The emerging Republican position is that women should not be free to vote, to report so-called “sexual assault,” or to say things like “dear isn’t that your fourth, you’re driving.”
Pete Hegseth shares a clip saying women shouldn’t have the right to vote, the 19th Amendment should be “repealed,” and women should “submit” to their husbands: “All of Christ for All of Life”

How does one just keep going about their daily life as the world they know collapses around them into outright fascism and bigotry?

Asking for a friend.

"What’s happening in the US is some sort of weird hybrid of the kind of power grabs we’ve seen in the tech industry, combined with a more traditional collapse of democratic institutions. The destruction is far more systematic and dangerous than many realize.”

Don't know why I'm just now having this thought, but it really seems like the wealthy class only tolerated social welfare as long as it was viewed as necessary to defend against socialism. Once the USSR fell, that threat receded, and they no longer felt the need to lift up their fellow citizens.

I've been making sure to practice my Spanish on Duolingo every day for the last 1,269 days!

That's nothing compared to Trump's streak, though. He has refused to concede the 2020 election every day for the last 1,465 days!

Kamala conceded after 1 day.

Which of these 2 is the authoritarian threat?

Many friends I used to know started out by just wanting to be 'funny' by being shocking. But the point I made in vain was when you act a certain way long enough, eventually that's just who you are. It ceases to be a bit.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day.

Teach a man to fish and he'll keep coming back every day to ask how and could you just do it for him it's faster that way.

9 weeks in and I'm still amazed at how different being a dad is from not being a dad, despite having imagined and worked for this change for the last several years. Harder and easier than I expected. Way more fulfilling than I dared to hope. Absolutely terrifying.
