It seems unhelpful to me that whenever someone says “Trump proposal X would be clearly illegal” a thousand people all chorus in to say “yes but SCOTUS is in the bag, it doesn’t matter.” Sure, the corrupt majority might sign off on anything. But we need to ACT like the law still matters.
A depressing number of news outlets are reporting this without mentioning the minor detail that it would be unconstitutional.

This is awful. Reliable economic data is a key strength of the US economy.

When Argentina and Greece faked economic data it contributed to major crises.

I don't think Trump will be able to fake the data given the procedures. But there is now a risk plus an awful appearance.

PLEASE NOTE:

SCOTUS did NOT declare that birthright citizenship is no longer the law of the land. The majority opinion addressed the appropriateness of the breadth of nationwide injunctions as it relates to plaintiffs who have standing to sue.
