I want a version of a Doodle poll that's weighted by how good your reason for unavailability is. Fed up of missing things when I have chemo that were scheduled on the basis of people's social plans. I'm probably being a bit unfair.

It's great to see someone living (as I am) with stage 4 cancer appointed as a health minister. Well done @ashleydaltonmp.bsky.social!

“Trump’s trade war - what did they all get out of it?”

Ooh, I don’t know, maybe a breakdown in the rules-based economic order and a whole heap of economic uncertainty?

Since announcing my diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer a few weeks ago I’ve become increasingly aware of how misunderstood the condition is.

So I want to debunk a few misconceptions:

What are you discussing on your journey to see family for Christmas? I’ve been giving @martinheadon.bsky.social a council-by-council breakdown of local government reorganisation. He’s remarkably engaged.

I’d always considered Muse lyrics to be entertainingly harmless quasi-political dross, but now I realise that Uprising was a full-throated YIMBY call for grey belt development and planning passports.

This seems sensible. A big scaling back of the scheme - stemming the loss of social housing - but keeping an option for long-term tenants to buy their home. 1:1 replacement is crucial.
NEW: MHCLG opens consultation on sweeping right to buy changes
🏠Council tenants to live in home for approx 10yrs (up fr 3) to qualify
🏠New-build social homes exempt
🏠1-for-1 replacement target for councils
🏠Discounts to fall further - to max of 20%
🏠Repaid if tenants sell w/in 10yrs, up from 5

As the husband of a cancer patient, it infuriates me to see Sir Chris Hoy’s cancer invariably described as “terminal”.
Despite the quotation marks in the headline, he never uses the word itself. And with good reason.
His cancer is *incurable*. 1/n

10 years ago today I was diagnosed with bowel cancer.

I thought I might mark the occasion by writing something profound, reflecting on my ongoing treatment or talking about my patient advocacy work.

Instead I’ve done some exercise, had a haircut and put some washing on. Delightfully, life goes on.

I’ve found everyone else’s starter packs really useful and wondered if there was a sufficient crowd of charity folks to add to a new one…

Any suggestions of third sector organisations or individuals to add? Social justice, equalities, environmental justice… could you help? 🙏
