@halifaxretales.bsky.social You probably already knew this but just in case, Walter's (Snack Bar/Cocktails) on Barrington has emptied out and the sign over the sidewalk has been scraped of the name (still on window). There was something called "Block & Tackle" that came and went in there too.

I recognized this painting right away, it was used as the cover of the New Canadian Library's version of Jack Hodgins' novel *The Resurrection of Joseph Bourne*. Definitely reminds me of my time in northern BC and Vancouver Island.

This business lists itself at 555 Barrington Street which doesn't exist (this is the 900-block, the southern end) so Google Maps just put it to the closest structure, an electrical vault. I love that it's just there on the map like yup, get yer buds here.

Blasted a roll through a new-to-me camera to test rangefinder focus / exposure / operation. Everything checks out 👍🏻

I'm lucky enough to live on an interesting street with the provincial art gallery, legislature, and historical buildings, but I think my favourite address is this one. I want to start a detective agency out of here.

Pulled a caraway rye loaf out of the oven just now. Turned out well even though I cut it the wrong way. Too much on my mind apparently, but I’m looking forward to cutting into it for a slice with my afternoon cappuccino.

A new convenience store opened up a couple doors down from the office so I think I'm gonna stop in, welcome them to the neighbourhood, and buy a litre of ice cream for the walk home. You know, as a treat.

It's a little strange to see an empty downtown parking garage but this one looks like it might collapse at any moment, so of course I wandered around for a while with a couple of cameras.

Film is meant to be shot and since I'm not getting any younger one of these cans is coming out of the freezer to be loaded in the bulk loader. Welcome back Fuji Neopan, may my shitty photo-taking abilities not totally disrespect you.

I'm not much of a movie-watcher but when the first three words of a review for the 1980 "gritty New York sleazesploitation crime thriller" *Night of the Juggler* are "Nonstop gonzo mayhem" it sounds like I should maybe look into it.

Night of the Juggler review – full-throttle 1980s pulp shocker crammed with nonstop gonzo mayhem
While the standards of good taste are very much of its time, this crime thriller is a ride of fender mangling car chases, over-the-top punch ups and nutso action

Now that Canada Post has moved to rotating strikes I finally got my box of film developing chemistry. With the Sodium Sulfite and Metol I can make D-23, and I can add the Potassium Bromide to my Caffenol recipe.

Got up on the roof this morning for the first time in years. I really should go up there more often, especially on beautiful sunny days.

I can't afford a decent panoramic camera so this $50 all-plastic 35mm masked frame thing will have to do. Took it for a spin this week on my walk to/from the office. Will make a fun second camera.
