This account was previously automated to post daily dips into the past, that yearlong project ended October 2024. I'm starting to sneak back on and figure out what else to say.

Highly recommend:

Sometimes when I feel not great about stuff... I'll look back through phone photos from local and faraway places, write positive things and share them on review sites.

I used to think we had too many blankets around the house and now I am certain we have nowhere near enough.

Was texting with a friend about cool weather bike riding gear. They mentioned the fine goods from Tracksmith.

I'm too fat for that brand but agreed "Their aesthetic along with what looks like heirloom quality have always piqued my eye."

Spent a chunk of the day powering through October. (2 weeks down!)

I'm lingering on this post that has a link to a TikTok video. It's an old SNL short film with Gilda Radner.

Closed the books on September.

The delayed journal posting was split down the middle — with future me knowing the outcome of an election, looking back at an optimist.

It’s going to be tough, but I never felt like I really understood the assignment.

It’s much clearer now.

I'm still spending a little time some mornings, tidying up after a year of looking back. My process of reviewing two decades of photos started with looking for a single image to post. I soon realized a more thorough approach was prudent.

October 31, 2003 - On Halloween of 2023 I began this journey looking back at decades of photos from the day. It’s been fun, heavy, wonderful and more than I can squeeze into a text box. I’ll post some recap thoughts in the future, but in the meantime? Thanks for following along!

October 30, 2005 - Lexington Kentucky celebrates Halloween every year with a Thriller parade where folks dress up like zombies and recreate the music video in the streets. I want to go back and attempt to take good pictures!

October 24, 2017 - Michael Wilson helps me with an experiment to see if photos can be printed in a darkroom with mobile phone image as a negative. After several attempts, we find success! This would become the foundation of a project called A Wonderful Moment.

October 23, 2015 - Hanging with the residents of People’s Liberty this particular week and we made a poster for an upcoming gallery show about geometric forms and kaleidoscopic experiences. Reference photo we used for our piece called “Platonic Solids” and the digital design.

October 22, 2011- I’ve spent many Octobers off the grid in California. This was my home base and it was (and continues to be) one of my absolutely favorite places on the entire planet. (Electricity from water and solar. Vibe from the best of friends.)

October 14, 2002 - First solo roadtrip had a stop in Salida, Colorado. I’d had spent New Year’s Eve during Y2K out there and had a great time I’m told so I returned. On this trip I explored San Isabel National Forest with my friend Scotty. Here he is making me nervous with his proximity to the edge.
