Lovely day at the cricket in Wellington. Felt like it could be close at the end but Black Caps kept their nerve. Well done NZ. Well deserved series win #NZEngalnd

Yes, I've no doubt that the people of England are obsessing everyday about Lord of the Rings and relishing the death, chaos and destruction that the civil war Musk advocates for would bring (as opposed to cost of living, the kid's education, their family's health etc).
Elon Musk: "It is time for the English to ally with the hard men, like Tommy Robinson, and fight for their survival or they shall surely all die" 29th October 2025. 2 million views in its first hour.

What on earth has happened to the British Conservative Party?
"The result would be removals on an epic scale. The comparison with Idi Amin's expulsion of Ugandan Asians is not one many Tory MPs welcome. Some appear unaware their own policy was that monstrous, until Lam spelled it out in a newspaper interview"

Here's a #HigherEducationPostcard of @ucl.ac.uk - some time before it was finished

Founded in 1826 as London University, it became UCL as part of the compromise that enabled it and King's College to award degrees

Genuinely exciting development. Took kids to see Bayeaux Tapestry a few years back on a holiday in northern France. They moaned endlessly we were going to a boring museum but ended up totally captivated, as was I.

Enjoying my time back in London. At National Gallery this morning for exhibition of Mexican artist José Maria Velasco (have a thing for Mexico, a wonderful country). Incredible I could also wander about and see Turners, Cézannes and Monets. I may have taken it a bit for granted when I live here!

Stunning day in Ōtepoti Dunedin. At Aramoana beach earlier. Saw a bunch of hoiho (yellow eyed penguins) mucking about in the surf and a couple of Royal Albatross gliding across the harbour mouth. Feeling the love for this special corner of NZ 🤩.

NZ University sector fairly downbeat ahead of the Budget and expectations being managed. Slim odds of a rabbit being pulled out the hat me thinks. www.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...
Budget: Schools expecting more support for disabled students, ECEs and universities less optimistic
Meanwhile, early childhood centres are hoping for a subsidy increase and universities are preparing for funding cuts.

New NZ Science Council and Chief Science Advisor named. There's been a real vacuum in this space so feels like an opportunity to inject some longer term and strategic thinking on NZ's science and innovation.

The Catlins is an area of incredible wildlife and beauty. A ban on vehicles on the beaches makes sense. I’m sure there must be other more appropriate places motorists can go and do donuts etc if that’s their thing.

Catlins resident calls for beach bylaw changes after car salesmen race, do 'doughnuts'
It comes after a string of instances in which the behaviour of motorists at beaches within the scenic Catlins coastline have sparked the ire of the community, including the district's mayor.
