In all the hand-wringing and complaining about Mandelson-Espstein, it must be remembered that such men only get to do their dastardly deeds with the assistance of many enablers. Yesterday I decried those UK politicians who refused to stand up to Trump. It’s now the turn of international politicians to show their metal, or crumble in the face of the most dangerous bully we currently face. To crumble is to enable him. Do that and none of us are safe any more.

I once described the SCROTUS’s behaviour as being a 12 year old’s idea of what a grown up would do. It seems I overestimated the age range by some margin. What we are witnessing now is more like a toddler tantrum. Queue an alliterative nickname - the Tangerine Toddler Tantrum.

After a succession of politicians using the budget to make themselves look stupid, you’d have thought the next one would have paid attention. Not so. Today’s announce that electric vehicles are to become subject to a tax based on their usage will kill stone dead the current move from fossil fuels.

Remember remember….. Today is when we Brits celebrate religious intolerance as a feature of our history, our current culture and our constitution. The UK is one of only two countries where the clergy of the established church (and no others) sit in parliament as a right. The other is Iran.

It should not be necessary to fact check a nation’s leader. If the leader tells the truth there is no need. If the leader is a moron and lies there should be no need. The need arises when those being led are also morons. MAGA supporters, Reform supporters, the followers numerous religions, perhaps?

Lots of comments regarding the decision to recognise a Palestinian state. Two things trouble me. 1. There is not, currently, any organisation or institution that could take on that mantle. 2.The parties of God who form opinion on either side will not allow two states to exist in the same place.

Almost every time I use the rails to travel I regret it. Yesterday’s journey, to watch a rugby match with 11,000 other fans was no exception. The trains ran late, were overcrowded, (who knew rugby fans would want to use public transport?), and had failing air con on a hot sunny day.

Trump's aim, his only purpose, is to persuade us that a future cessation of hostilities in Ukraine was entirely down to him and him alone. He will then expect to be awarded a Nobel prize for "preventing WW3", which "nobody else could have done". This will be true regardless of what happens next.
