Beware of bringing down a Labour government over indirect links to Epstein. You will enable a Reform administration that will make Truss’s disastrous few days in power seem like the good old days. Farridge is a racist misogynistic sociopathic grifter, IMHO.

There are many reasons not to enter a Wetherspoons pub. To the list we can now add discrimination against guide dogs and their owners.

“I’m sorry…..” doesn’t cut it Starmer. Your stunning and false display of naivety is not believable. You cannot not have known Mandelson, having been caught out twice before, would be untrustworthy and abuse the power you gave him. The question remains, why did you appoint him despite his history?
February 6, 2026 at 7:27 AM
In all the hand-wringing and complaining about Mandelson-Espstein, it must be remembered that such men only get to do their dastardly deeds with the assistance of many enablers. And not just those that opened doors for them, but also those who stood by when they could have intervened. Find them all.

Yesterday, while watching an excellent history program on the Beeb presented by David Olusoga, I thought about a friend who escaped Nazi germany aged six, by walking to Czechoslovakia.
True story.
It needs to be recorded and has the makings of a film.

Yesterday I decried those UK politicians who refused to stand up to Trump. It’s now the turn of international politicians to show their metal, or crumble in the face of the most dangerous bully we currently face. To crumble is to enable him. Do that and none of us are safe any more.

As SCROTUS makes yet another deranged threat yet more serving politicians stand up and excuse his rantings. Is there not even one among those who have chosen to lead us that has the confidence to say out loud “Trump is a moron and absolutely must be ignored.”?
January 20, 2026 at 6:24 PM
I once described the SCROTUS’s behaviour as being a 12 year old’s idea of what a grown up would do. It seems I overestimated the age range by some margin. What we are witnessing now is more like a toddler tantrum. Queue an alliterative nickname - the Tangerine Toddler Tantrum.

Er….. Really?

One shaft of light resulting from defections to Farridge’s Reform party (a more complete oxymoron is hard to imagine), is to identify previously closeted racists. Although quite what a Persian immigrant is likely to gain from joining the worst of John Bull little Englanders escapes me.

After a succession of politicians using the budget to make themselves look stupid, you’d have thought the next one would have paid attention. Not so. Today’s announce that electric vehicles are to become subject to a tax based on their usage will kill stone dead the current move from fossil fuels.

Not sure I understand Farridge. He’s spent his whole life spitting bile on “others” from the brown skinned to the non Anglophone. Only now does he realise that abusing individuals from any minority group was wrong. His kind of nationalist hate speech has made him very wealthy. So why change now?

Remember remember….. Today is when we Brits celebrate religious intolerance as a feature of our history, our current culture and our constitution. The UK is one of only two countries where the clergy of the established church (and no others) sit in parliament as a right. The other is Iran.

So Trump thinks he’s managed to do a deal that will secure peace. He is probably the least well qualified and most disrespected of any who’ve tried before. And yet?
Give it time. The parties of God have yet to confirm they are on board. 2000 years of constant conflict suggests this ain’t the end.

It should not be necessary to fact check a nation’s leader. If the leader tells the truth there is no need. If the leader is a moron and lies there should be no need. The need arises when those being led are also morons. MAGA supporters, Reform supporters, the followers numerous religions, perhaps?

Lots of comments regarding the decision to recognise a Palestinian state. Two things trouble me. 1. There is not, currently, any organisation or institution that could take on that mantle. 2.The parties of God who form opinion on either side will not allow two states to exist in the same place.

We’re doomed. A friend, a qualified professional, has just said (and I’m not summarising or misquoting) that he was pleased Boris got Brexit done and can’t wait for Farage to be PM.
I still cannot understand why people who otherwise behave in a sane manner are quite clearly unable to think clearly.

Almost every time I use the rails to travel I regret it. Yesterday’s journey, to watch a rugby match with 11,000 other fans was no exception. The trains ran late, were overcrowded, (who knew rugby fans would want to use public transport?), and had failing air con on a hot sunny day.

The future is bright.

Our children have been switching to and excelling at Maths and sciences at A level. The next generation will build their world using logic and reason.

The future is truly bright.

Today, during a survey I was completing online, I was asked to select my age range. Nothing wrong with that. It allows those analysing the survey results to show trends and to target improvements. But, for the first time ever, my age range was the last one, the Over nn range.

Bugger!

So you’re the new pope. What’s your name?

That idiot in Tory leader's clothing, Badenough, needs to understand something.
Our HRA, is not the ECHR dressed up as English and Welsh law. It is English and Welsh common law dressed up as European civil law.
If immigrants are not protected by our common law, then who else does it not protect?

Didn't this happen almost 100 years ago in Germany?
Tories to force vote to disapply Human Rights Act in immigration cases

Human rights are universal - if we start stripping away basic human rights from any section of society then none of us has rights- just privileges that can be taken away by people in power when they want

A call to any grownups remaining in the USA to recognise where your country is being led. Yesterday you jealously guarded your rights and privileges, today you have enabled your country's humiliation on the international stage.

Trump's aim, his only purpose, is to persuade us that a future cessation of hostilities in Ukraine was entirely down to him and him alone. He will then expect to be awarded a Nobel prize for "preventing WW3", which "nobody else could have done". This will be true regardless of what happens next.
