In 2018 i pinned this tweet on my Twitter profile, it’s still pinned now.

“Diversity is looking like, sounding like, and acting like the community we serve” 🙌

#OneTeamGovGlobal #inclusion #diversity #CampDigital

It’s still as critical to now, as it was when i first heard it.
Reducing anxiety is accessibility.

Reducing anxiety is accessibility
One of the most inspiring accessibility examples I came across last year came from Stendahls Bil, a Swedish car dealer. Simple idea, done well: help people know what to expect when buying a car.

These annual ‘year wrapped’ things are melting my brain.

Spotify, Amazon, Strava, LinkedIn… mostly fine.

But Miro?

256 collaborators. 1,936 boards. ”Specialism in workshops.”

Lots of numbers.
Zero insight.

Genuinely worried about what might Microsoft one might say.

AI reads your site like a blind person.

This piece explains why accessibility matters for AI search. Clear structure, proper headings, meaningful alt text, and transcripts help models understand context

The work that helps people use your site helps AI interpret it.

Is this how it works?

Quick question. I’m in need of some advice.

Does anyone of any good platforms for publishing conference slides that maintain accessibility quality/standards?

I’ve not looked into it for a while, but it’s always been a bit of a big bear of mine.

Thanks in advance.

Smashing Magazine sent out another good newsletter.

This time they talk about how measuring traffic to a site is a vanity metric, particularly in this era of people using AI to find what they need instead of going to source materials.

@deanvipond.bsky.social looking forward to your session Dean!

I was in a meeting last week when you started presenting - but as I walked back into the office a couple of people said to me “it was brilliant” and they were looking forward to learning more. 🙌

I've been thinking about this post a lot today (related, my son got a detention for "not having his shirt tucked in") and the whole "seeing like a state" approach to rule-based and technocratically managed childhoods is so at odds with anything that will produce resilient, curious, confident adults
Edtech is canceral (prison) tech example 56489.
The only job this is preparing children for is a zero hours Amazon warehouse job where they will be timed and filmed at all times.

Had a great chat with Al Duggin today. He said something that I think every designer and developer should adopt as their accessibility mantra:

“Designing to include means making experiences that work for as many people as possible, without them having to adjust anything for it to meet their needs.”
