I'll keep emphasizing this until it passes, but the Laken Riley Act does more than just create a new ground of mandatory detention, it also creates a sweeping state AG enforcement authority to seek federal court orders that could reshape the system in favor of Ken Paxton and the 5th Circuit's whims.
