making stuff is important. making bad stuff is often the first step towards making good stuff; but mostly, it's important because it means you're making stuff.

Defund the CIA and use the money to make more Muppet retellings of classic literature
production of The Muppet Show should not be dependent on petty vulgarities like “ratings” or “revenue.” it should be preserved as a vital function of american culture. it should have a taxpayer-funded budget rivaling the CIA

There's another university "AI Summit" coming up; my critical discussions of building otherwise than the current harmful paradigm of "AI" got good responses the last 2 yrs, but this year all i can think to do is sit on a table at the front of the room & ask "what are we doing?" for 15 full minutes.

You ever read a book that you admire the construction of and fundamentally disagree with the conclusion of said book? Well, I did earlier this month and it made me write a lot of words.

I'm doing the "responsible/weird" thing of cleaning up my files, and as I leaf through around who I used to be, I am both impressed by what I managed to create by then and also utterly bewildered.

Which I suppose is a good thing either way. I guess that's a type of growth I guess.

"War College teaches them to fight battles. I am teaching you to end wars."

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy resonates with me deeply and I really look forward to seeing it develop over the course of its inaugural season.

Last year, I started reverting back to the ways of old (i.e. high school) and started making osing mini-mixtapes alongside endearingly shitty cover art made in MS Publisher.

It's a fun exercise trying to make sense what my current taste in music is trying to tell me that month.

I used to have stray thoughts like "wow, I really could have been X in a different life" or "I missed my calling to do Y."

I am now realizing that I can just do the thing. There's nothing actually stopping me. I'm allowed to be more than what I'm now, which is something I probably did already knowm

My favorite line is "2025 was a year of trying things. 2026 is a year of connection. I don’t know exactly what means yet, but I feel it in my bones."

The most important one is probably "The simple act of shuffling as means of casting a lot of fate."

I have reached "Letters of Transit" in my Fringe rewatch, one of the weirdest episodes of a syndicated show ever, but damn the 2036 opener was clean and it's willingness to be so weird in service of staging the next arc and examining theme is just so cool.

I'm doing this thing this year where I actually like... share the work I produce on socials in the hopes of getting more people to read my work. Maybe for fame. Maybe just to be known.

Who's to say but I've been proud of the stuff I've written for my newsletter.

If anyone was wondering, Fringe still holds up incredibly well and still has one of the finest episodes of all television in Season 2's White Tulip.

This also serves as my regular plea to the universe to give Anna Torv more work.

Did I purposely come out to the East Coast a couple days early just for a pizza? No, but it certainly was a factor.

I am not particularly good at competitive Pokemon, whether it's singles, doubles, or the weird free for all in ZA, but I like minmaxing and customizing and curating and there is something about making a team with arbitrary rules and compositions and themes that just feels good?

It is extraordinary telling that a show I called "Legally-Distinct-From-ER ER" for three episodes before insisting on using its proper name was appointment television for 4 months at the beginning of 2025.

You know how good a show has to be to survive a full year of media and still be the best?

Getting my oral appliance for sleep apnea today, and while it probably will take a couple weeks to find the correct placement of my jaw, there is a part of me that fears that I am going to wake up fully refreshed and go "so you're telling me I didn't have to be tired all the time?"

So we'll see.

* Being known
* Piano lessons that kill you
