Playwright & writer. Debut novel LOVE CAN’T FEED YOU (Dutton/Penguin Random House) out now!
Pinned
My debut novel LOVE CAN’T FEED YOU about an immigrant family from the Philippines from the POV of the 17-year-old daughter got a starred PW review, Book of the Week from People mag, and made it to Amazon’s top debut books of 2024!
I really appreciated this interview because it got me talking about how expectations shift when people immigrate. The idea of “good” is challenged. What does it mean to be a “good girl”?
"You’re a good girl if you follow the same path as your parents, if you have a career, get married, [and] have kids. But I was also contending with how that gets subverted when people immigrate."

Joined a giant book club in Meta and one reader posted that she used AI to generate a book to gift to her daughter based on a questionnaire—all for $36. She is recommending the “service” to others. Ugh.
