I like watching movies and t.v. and having opinions about them.
Watched Runt. Aussie family movie.

Aussie country kid and her mutt dog try to win money to save the family farm from a dodgy property developer who stole the town's water.

This was lovely and so Aussie. There were a lot of great shots of country Australia and very familiar Aussie culture...cont.

Watched Inhumanwich. Sci-fi horror parody.

After an accident in space, an astronaut comes back to Earth as a sentient blob of meat that eats everyone in its path.

This is a movie that knows it's terrible and doesn't try to be anything else...cont.

Watched Get Away. Comedy horror.

Family go to a remote Swedish island with a dark past for a holiday.

This got poor reviews, unfairly I think. It was dark and quirky.

Nick Frost and Aisling Bea worked really well together...cont.

Watched Isn't It Romantic. Rom-com.

Woman who hates rom-coms hits head and wakes up in a rom-com.

I didn't want to like this but I found myself laughing a lot. I find Rebel Wilson a little hit and miss but I liked her in this one...cont.
November 14, 2025 at 6:52 AM
Watched Hope Gap. Drama.

Couple put their son in the middle of their marriage breakdown.

Quite an uncomfortable watch. It was never slow though which is quite the feat for a drama.

Amazing acting with Annette Bening, Bill Nighy and Josh O'Connor as the family...cont.
November 13, 2025 at 8:42 AM
Rewatched I, Tonya. Biopic.

The story of Tonya Harding, disgraced figure skater.

I have a bit of a soft spot for mockumentary style movies. I don't know how much of tye story is actually true but a lot of the more insane things people said came straight from actual interviews they did...cont.
November 12, 2025 at 7:46 AM
Watched Shark Side of the Moon. Sci-fi.

Russians create mutant shark people and send them to the moon where they hunt American astronauts.

Yes, you read that right. When one of the characters said 'why are there sharks on the moon' I said what a great question...cont.
November 11, 2025 at 7:15 AM
Watched The Sloth Lane. Kid's animation.

A family of sloths run a food truck in a new city and compete with an unscrupulous fast food restaurant.

This was done in stop animation style without being stop animation, which I find a bit unusual to watch...cont.
November 10, 2025 at 6:14 AM
Watched Sing Street. Irish musical rom-com.

Dublin teen in the 80s starts a band to impress a girl.

That was a lot of acid wash denim. This was charming but also peppered with hard to watch scenes with domestic violence and a priest half drowning the teen boy to scrub his make-up off...cont.
November 9, 2025 at 5:29 AM
Watched Flipped. Rom-com.

Boy is a jerk to the girl next door and then falls in love with her.

This was delightful. It was told from the perspective of both main characters; Bryce and Juli. Gave me Wonder Years vibes...cont.
November 8, 2025 at 6:11 AM
Watched A Minecraft Movie. Kid's movie.

Based on the Minecraft game.

I haven't played Minecraft and I know little about it except you build stuff with cubes. It was visually pleasing and had a great soundtrack but a lot of the jokes were lost on me...cont.
November 7, 2025 at 5:51 AM
Watched Flow. Animation.

A cat collects friends in a rapidly flooding world.

This was cute. All the animals had a lot of character, despite no dialogue in the film...cont.
November 6, 2025 at 6:36 AM
Watched Cruella. Family movie.

The origin story of Cruella De Vil.

I watched this on a plane so not the best format to watch it in. Emma Stone's accent was a little grating at first but I forgot about it after a while. I also loved that red shag haircut on her...cont.
November 5, 2025 at 7:18 AM
Watched Jump, Darling. Drama.

Rookie drag queen trying to get over a break up visits his grandmother, who doesn't want to go into a nursing home and is in cognitive decline.

November 4, 2025 at 7:37 AM
Rewatched Heathers. Dark comedy.

Teen girl is sick of the popular kids so teams up with the school sociopath to deal with them.

One of my all time favourite movies. Beautifully dark.

Shannen Doherty is in her element and this is peak Winona Ryder...cont.
November 3, 2025 at 7:25 AM
Watched American Murder: Gabby Petito. True crime doco.

The murder of Gabby Petito.

There is so much footage of Gabby that it was odd that Netflix felt the need to use AI to recreate her voice.

This was really text book domestic violence...cont.
October 21, 2025 at 6:47 AM
Finished American Murder: Laci Peterson. True crime doco.

The murder of Laci Peterson.

This was done in the usual true crime format but is such a similar story to Shanann Watts. Why can't these a-holes just get divorced?...cont.
October 20, 2025 at 7:39 AM
Watched American Murder: The Family Next Door. True crime doco.

The murders of Shanann Watts and her two young daughters.

This was done in an interesting format with Shanann essentially telling her own story with videos of her talking about her life and a lot of police footage...cont.
October 19, 2025 at 9:01 AM
Watched The Twisted Nanny. Thriller.

Nanny turns children against their mother.

This was classic Lifetime; over dramatic, wooden acting and ordinary script. Similar to The Hand That Rocks The Cradle, but bad.

I wondered if the script was written by AI because it was awful...cont.
October 18, 2025 at 6:57 AM
Watched Shooter. Action.

Ex-sniper is framed for an assassination attempt.

Firstly, that ponytail was a crime against humanity. And the old gun gun was weird.

It was a reasonable political conspiracy action, plenty of things exploding and army dudes running around shooting stuff...cont.
October 17, 2025 at 8:44 AM
Watched Yes Day. Family movie.

Insane parents decide to let their children do anything they want for a day.

It was cute and all but there is no way any sane parents would allow their car to be trashed from putting it through a car wash with the windows down...cont.
October 16, 2025 at 8:40 AM
Finished In The Name of Love. Norwegian dramedy.

A dysfunctional family's secret of working in the illegal pornography industry in the 70s and 80s comes out at a baptism.

Based on a true story of Bard Breien's childhood...cont.
October 15, 2025 at 8:43 AM
Watched The Idaho College Murders. True crime doco.

The murders of four students in 2022.

This was filmed in 2023 which was very soon after the event and well before the trial in 2025. I think this was done way too soon...cont.
October 14, 2025 at 8:41 AM
Rewatched Galaxy Quest. Comedy sci-fi.

Actors of a tv sci-fi get abducted by real aliens who hope to save their race from a bad guy.

By Grabthar's hammer, I love this movie. I've watched this at least a dozen times. I still cried when Quellek died...cont.
October 13, 2025 at 7:42 AM
Watched Promising Young Woman. Crime drama.
