What a delight to see you paying it forward, Rebecca! It means a lot to see the best parts of being a professor reflected in former students like you 🥰
Just submitted a grad school recommendation for a student and I am feeling super emotional. Go out and do wonderful things you amazing person!

Also makes me want to hug @cheeflo.bsky.social, who wrote one of MY grad school recommendation letters several years ago.

the important thing to remember about 2026 is that 2015 was still only five years ago

The entire point of writing any scholarly work is to say something that hasn’t been said before, something meaningfully (not just statistically) different, that contributes to a new understanding in the field. LLMs are very good at finding what’s in the literature, not what’s NOT there.

@linkletter.org: "Over 50,000 UBC students were forced to use Proctorio during the pandemic & it was really upsetting to them. They felt like they weren’t being trusted. They felt creeped out by the eye tracking & head movement tracking that it does, and they were asking for help getting rid of it."

Of course, on the same extremely busy day in the Netherlands, an early morning visit to Micky - The Space Cat at ESA ESTEC was a key priority (Didn't want to disturb his slumber at that moment but got to say hello a little later). So grateful for this brief little snuggle in the middle of shop talk!

"It is against the TOS to be talked into suicide by our LLM" is possibly the most evil tech bro thing I've ever read
Additionally, OpenAI argues its not liable because Raine, by using ChatGPT for self-harm, broke its terms of service

Sade releases her “Promise” LP 40 years ago today.

Of “Sweetest Taboo,” she said:

“.. It’s about a love that feels almost TOO good, the sort of feeling you don’t talk about because it makes you vulnerable. I like writing about that kind of emotion — the danger .. of loving someone that deeply.”

Thank you, Manchester, you've been fantastic! 👾 😘
It was a tremendous honor to be welcomed so graciously by the DISC Digital Society at Manchester Met and the Manchester Game Centre to give this public talk.

Good. There were a lot of influential papers put on arxiv that just served corporate interests. Now if we can just fix peer review (she says not least because of the 15 review invitations she hasn't opened in her recent mail spools.)
arXiv will no longer accept review articles and position papers unless they have been accepted at a journal or a conference and complete successful peer review.

This is due to being overwhelmed by a hundreds of AI generated papers a month.

Yet another open submission process killed by LLMs.
