New poll from Navigator also with an incredible result; the largest drop in support for ICE since June was actually among *Republicans*, 25% of which now say they have an unfavorable opinion of the agency.

AB 1537 will set a common-sense standard across our state.

This bill would prohibit local officers from taking “side jobs” with ICE, CBP, DHS, or any other entity engaged in “civil immigration enforcement” - AKA abducting our neighbors.

ICE’s violence, cruelty and abuses of power are escalating by the day.

And ICE is desperately trying to recruit more agents so they can terrorize more communities.

They’ve even launched ad campaigns like this one to recruit local police and sheriffs 2/

🚨ICE has spent millions trying to recruit local police and sheriffs.

And right now, nothing in state law prevents local officers from taking “side jobs” as deportation agents.

AB 1537 by @isaacgbryan.bsky.social will CLOSE this loophole.

We’re proud to sponsor this important bill. 🧵

#IceOutForGood !

There is MUCH that city/state elected leaders can do to challenge ICE + fight Trump’s attacks on our cities.

Officials can and should cut ties immediately (looking at you NYS!).

They can also do more to discourage Ice hiring — California’s AB 1537 is a good example.

Lots of lessons not yet learned from the Obama years that Dems- and anyone disgusted by maga politics - might take to heart.

On immigration, it starts with this refusal- for years- that the White House could do anything about ICE, except ramp up deportations.

Appreciate @anacabrera.bsky.social directly asking Sen Gallego if he still supports his vote to expand ICE.

@gallego.senate.gov updated his message about ICE, but we’re going to have to address *repeated* votes that keep sending BILLIONS to a rogue police force.

Every level of government has a role to play. Get Ice out of MN. End 287g in NYS. Call out Ice and their maga/GOP apologists. No funds to DHS.

And start the investigations. Hold individuals to account. Document everything. Freeze the crime scene. Lots to do.

The ICE presence in Minneapolis was illegal. The confrontation with civilians.

The brandishing of weapons, the abusive commands, the arbitrary detentions, racial profiling…

The cold-blooded shooting of a witness. The denial of medical aid.

Wrong again. Not only did the raids in LA grow in scale and violence, they spread to other Home Depots across the country. HD remained silent, basically repeating the same line for 5 months. In short: "There's nothing we can do." [This is not true, and I'll come back to it at end of thread] /7
