20 years ago I was the first in my family to apply to and go to college; I was the youngest of 7 kids. 15 years later, I went back for my masters. This week my oldest niece finished her masters course work and my little (half) sister @alexatempleton.bsky.social applied for her masters program.

Hello Blue Sky! Astronomy on Tap: Cork (the first in Cork City and only one currently in Ireland) just hosted our inaugural event at Franciscan Well Brewpub. With >100 attendees, 3 amazing talks, and some great trivia, it was a resounding success! We are looking forward to doing another one soon!

I made this Pride flag using only NASA images and our team thought it would be cool to share on social (I work on the NASA heliophysics communications team), but it's getting all sorts of hate on the bird app and Fbook. Thought y'all might be more appreciative of it here. ☺️🏳️‍🌈💖

I initially planned to say nothing about Babel’s inexplicable disqualification from the Hugo Awards. But I believe that these cases thrive on ambiguities, the lingering question marks, the answers that aren’t answers. I wish to clarify that no reason for Babel’s ineligibility was given to me or my team. I did not decline a nomination, as no nomination was offered.

Until one is provided that explains why the book was eligible for the Nebula and Locus awards, which it won, and not the Hugos, I assume this was a matter of undesirability rather than ineligibility. Excluding “undesirable” work is not only embarrassing for all involved parties, but renders the entire process and organization illegitimate. Pity.

That’s all from me. I have books to write.
