Just finished shooting the scenes I wanted from my screenplay, and I feel amazing. Had such a great team behind me, and a super cast to work with. Can't wait to edit this all together. #filming #thebenedictboys

Hi, Bluesky. Been a while. Normally you're a triggering collection of news articles of our hellish dystopian socio-political climate that sends me spiraling into a depression, but I'm just checking in to say how happy I am that I've now updated 3 of my screenplays to the latest polish. Pretty cool.

101/250 2002's "Lilo & Stitch" Written & Directed by Dean DeBlois & Chris Sanders. Wholesome, adorable, hilarious & incredibly heartfelt, this gorgeously animated message about found-family & acceptance - finding the best qualities in yourself & others - is such a warm hug of a movie. Great cast.

100/250 2002's "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" Directed by Joel Zwick, Written by Nia Vardalos. The best Rom-Com ever made, which is so wholesome and beautiful. The poking fun comes from a place of love, and the leads have great chemistry. A perfect, feel-good movie.

99/250 2019's "Ford v Ferrari" Directed by James Mangold, Written by Jez & John-Henry Butterworth & Jason Keller. A brilliant piece of film by Mangold, which feels viscerally real, and fast, and important. Even non-racing fans can enjoy, thanks to wonderful performances and an excellent script.

98/250 1994's "Shawshank Redemption" Written & Directed by Frank Darabont, he who is the master of adaptation. Seriously, every project he does is fantastic. Great script, wonderfully shot, brilliant direction. It's hailed as one of the all-time greats for a reason.

97/250 1971's "The French Connection" Directed by William Friedkin, Written by Friedkin & Ernest Tidyman. A brilliant iconoclastic cop film about a defeatist struggling to find the point of it all. I loved this movie. Fantastic car chase, wonderfully nihilistic ending. Hackman, you were a great one.

96/250 1975's "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" Directed by Milos Forman, Written by Lawrence Hauben & Bo Goldman. Incredibly effective story w/ an outstanding cast, Jack leading the way. Fletcher is daunting & young Dourif is tragically adorable. You just want to give him a hug. Memorable ending.

95/250 2024's "Wicked" Directed by Jon M. Chu, Written by Winnie Holzman & Dana Fox. This is my first exposure to the musical so to say I didn't "get it" then is apt but MAN this movie thrilled! Fantastic, top to bottom, w/ Erivo DELIVERING. That finale is stunning, w/ 'Defying Gravity' a knockout.

94/250 1988's "Grave of the Fireflies" Written & Directed by Isao Takahata. I never want to watch this movie again. It is so affecting, personal, intimate, and terrible. The fact that Nosaka went through this exact thing and what happened...actually happened to him and his sister is heartbreaking.

93/250 2021's "tick, tick... BOOM!" Directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Written by Jonathan Larson & Steven Levenson. A brilliant and highly emotional musical w/ outstanding songs and even better performances. Garfield is untouchable. With a shattering lesson about writing, this one hits close to home.

92/250 1968's "Rosemary's Baby" Written & Directed by Roman Polanski. A chilling movie that was way ahead of its time. It feels shockingly relevant today, as people - primarily men - all around Rosemary gaslight her and tell her what to do with her body. Seriously, give it another watch and marvel.

90/250 2022's "Matilda: The Musical" Directed by Matthew Warchus, Written by Dennis Kelly & Tim Minchin. I'm telling you not only is Minchin's Matilda the best version of the story in existence, but also one of the best musicals of all time. This movie managed to capture it perfectly. Outstanding.

87/250 2000's "Unbreakable" Written & Directed by M. Night Shyamalan. Easily his BEST film, this is everything that the director is known for honed to a fine-pointed end. Gorgeous and thoughtful cinematography, his best dialog, great suspense, and memorable characters. This was his peak, his opus.

84/250 1997's "Princess Mononoke" Written & Directed by Hayao Miyazaki. Stunningly beautiful animation, as expected of Ghibli, but married with a timeless story of conservation and the balance of nature and man. With Ghibli, it doesn't get much better than this. Great art by incredible artists. Wow.
