DAUGHTERS OF THE GRAIL is on Kindle US for 99c!

A TV producer commissioned me to write the novel from a treatment, hoping to sell the work as a series, but it didn't happen.
Despite that, the book did very well internationally. It's a bit different to my usual having mystical elements.

From Halliwell's Dictionary of Archaic and Provincial words, obsolete phrases, proverbs and ancient customs 1855.

KOUSLOPPES - Cowslips.

Old English cu-slyppe, apparently from cu "cow" slyppe "slop, slobber, dung" the plant's customary habitat.

My photo of some I came across in a meadow.

When you suddenly acquire a dog in your novel that you didn't know existed until you began writing.
This is Ruffe - a champion ratter with a penchant for attacking all manner of fur and fringing on people's garments.

This came up on my memory page on another forum and always makes me smile.
Evidence of canines doing the pre-wash since 1308, (Giotto) and of cats displaying their disdain for such goings on.

Apologies for my absence. A flood of daily dealings away from my desk is the cause. Husband is about to have an operation with 4-6 weeks recovery, so the dogs are mine. My mum passed away and her funeral comes in the middle of all this. I'll be properly back some time in March - I hope!

Medieval Children by Nicholas Orme. In 1509 children are learning to translate the below phrases from English to Latin:

'Thou stinkest', 'Thou art a false knave', 'Thou art worthy to be hanged', 'Thou art a blab', 'Turd in thy teeth.' 'He is the veriest coward that ever pissed.'

My great grandmother Martha Sykes as a child, some time in the 1860's or early 1870's Lancashire. Later on she married and had two daughters and ran a corner shop selling home made pies, bakes, and biscuits (the latter commercial). The daughters went to work in the cotton mills.
