He/Him. I do a narrated short fiction podcast called Not About Lumberjacks (http://nolumberjacks.com). When not doing that, I like juggling, canoeing, hiking, and playing Irish tunes on my mandolin - even though I'm not very good Ⓥ

The Not About Lumberjacks Christmas special is there when you need a stress break from the holiday. Three stories:

1. A Bigfoot suit mishap.
2. A Billionaire Bunker. (Narrated by the mighty @ajfidalgo.com!)
3. Gifts returned.

Really been enjoying the lunch break rides with Cynthia. I know it will soon be too warm/hot for me or...not enough time because I'll get all swampy and need to shower right away, extending lunch beyond an hour. (We'll switch to early morning soon.) But right now, I'm loving it.

Still icy in North Texas...
January 27, 2026 at 3:18 PM
The urge to take today off for one more day outside was strong. A 5-mile hike in the ice yesterday had us finding (and trying out) an abandoned boogie board used as a sled. Of course, we also had to go for a bike ride...

Rowdy is one of the many badass animals living at The Farm Micro Sanctuary.
We have 9” of new snow today 😏 I made Rowdy stay inside last night and today while it was snowing, but the old curmudgeon demanded to be allowed to be feral. 😂 Sometimes respecting their desires means opening a gate. ☺️

From yesterday morning's walk in the "snow." (Hey, we'll take what we get in Texas! Got a bit more overnight, and I guess a little more will fall today.)

Had outside mostly to ourselves. Looking forward to getting out in a bit to see how things are today.

I hate how this administration steals joy. I jumped on Bluesky to post photos from a walk with my wife on a "snowy" morning in Texas. Instead, I saw this...and it seems off to share fun photos of us out for a walk when this shit is happening elsewhere: bsky.app/profile/bell...
Federal law enforcement agents shot and killed a man in Minneapolis on Jan. 24 according to local police officials. DHS told Fox News that the man was “armed with a gun”. A video of the shooting appears to show that a gun was taken from the man before the first shot was fired. x.com/BillMelugin_...

This video by natasailincic.bsky.social is phenomenal. Anyone who sees generative A.I. as the shit it is (or those wondering why many of us are unimpressed)...this is worth the watch. Damn...

(A shame it doesn't have more views...)

AJ narrated the 2nd story of this year's Not About Lumberjacks Christmas episode ("Above and Below"): nolumberjacks.com/christmas-mi...

It's been fun watching this build, and it's nice seeing that he's [mostly] done!
It's mostly done! #voiceacting

To do: get some sort of hook to hang my headphones, and set up a smaller chair that better fits the small space.

I may also pick up some sort of metal brace to help keep the structure intact.

The next Not About Lumberjacks story, "The Sinister Quilt of Agnes Burr," is about a group of older women in a quilting circle who accidentally summon Satan through a design.

I can't wait to work on sounds for this one...

"I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice..."

John is snazzy...and correct.

If you need a machine that seeks out the mundane to "create" things for you, you're a terribly sad and uninteresting person lacking even a semblance of grit and curiosity.
“We use AI for inspiration!” says someone who is not routinely inspired by everything. Inspiration is not the hard part. Artists are what inspiration lands on when the universe exhales. I OBS something twice a day when I’m not looking for anything.

I realize I’ve made this point. It’s just insane.
Keep hearing devs say that they only use ai for "pre-concept art"

There is no pre-concept art. There is concept art. That's where the idea starts. With the concept.

You're using ai for concept art.

Chatting with friends about the Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC) Senate hearing in the 80s, I mentioned this:

"I remember a friend (stoned and drunk at the time) talking about the hearings. And him: 'You know what's fucked me up more than music? My parents never being around...'"

If you encounter some fascist piece of shit who says this was justified (or even someone who saw one other angle that looks like the agent was grazed), share this.

This is horrifying. Stay the fuck away from our students you pieces of shit. They’re there to learn and feel safe for once. I can’t take this shit

Damn, this is soooooooo good and worth the time to read.

I wish all the people I know who are usually like, "I don't do politics," but suddenly quick to post, "We ousted a bad guy and you're still not happy!" would read this.
A very long and important THREAD -

The real reason the US is invading Venezuela goes back to a deal Henry Kissinger made with Saudi Arabia in 1974.

And I'm going to explain why this is actually about the SURVIVAL of the US dollar itself.

Not drugs. Not terrorism. Not "democracy." 1/
January 4, 2026 at 7:27 PM
So now the U.S. will run Venezuela until new leadership is in.

When they get in and look at the constitution: "What's this?"

Written in black Sharpie: "And the U.S. gets 99% of all our oil now and forever (times infinity) with no take-backs!"

I have NO idea why the mighty @lisaeckstein.com would share such a thing and tag me! Lumberjacks? Pshaw!

I have established that I will never -- EVER -- share a story about lumberjacks. (ESPECIALLY every November!)
On the way home from my vacation this weekend, we stopped at the Lumberjacks Restaurant in Willits, California. It's "where the big boys eat"! This will probably NOT be of interest to @cgronlund.bsky.social, since his story podcast is NOT About Lumberjacks. nolumberjacks.com
