what booker is doing right now is an example of what i mean when i say things like “we need more ambition right now.” there is room in american politics right now for people with ambition to take big stands and reap the rewards. he’s doing it!

I know the world is bonkers and our faith in humanity is hanging by a thread. But I hope enough people can come together to help cover the funeral costs of my beloved uncle, Carlos. He passed unexpectedly on Saturday and we are so heartbroken.💔

in the trump administration, “merit” is pronounced “white” like how strom thrumond said it.
Just look at these paragraphs from the AP story.

Hegseth called Brown unqualified solely because he's Black. Then they fired him... and replaced him with a white guy so indisputably unqualified that he requires a Presidential waiver.

This is what "merit" means to them.

Tyranny requires your fear, your silence, and your compliance.

Democracy requires your courage.

First nuclear weapons management, now this. No one - Democrat or Republican - voted for this kind of incompetence.
NEW: The USDA acknowledged that over the weekend, it accidentally fired "several" agency employees who are working on the federal government's response to the H5N1 avian flu outbreak.

The agency adds it is trying to quickly reverse the firings.
USDA says it accidentally fired officials working on bird flu and is trying to rehire them

The crazier the world (and this administration) gets, the less I want to add to the noise by posting about the idiocy at the helm of the government. But the more I want to tell the opposition that they will NEVER take our JOY.

Which means I mostly just repost other people’s thoughts 🫠

I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world.

Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent.

Opportunities are everywhere.

Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉

Avoidance isn’t always a healthy coping mechanism but I’ll tell you what — I’m very much enjoying my quiet day in bed reading books and eating macaroni and cheese & not turning on the news once. 📚 👍
