Everyone currently paying bribes to the White House should be made to understand that we are going to remember and make them regret it.

Republicans and Gov DeWine have made OH parents much less likely to send their children to college in-state. And why would someone want to attend an OH university from another part of the US when a legislative majority view educators as the enemy?

The nerve! Gov. DeWine wrecked higher ed and blames the tour guides
DeWine’s $5,000 merit scholarship can’t mask the damage of SB 1: program cuts, shuttered DEI, politicized classrooms — and a hostile message to the very students and scholars Ohio needs to keep.

God what a tool Klein is. Has he heard of Professor Watch? Is broadcasting an online list of faculty to harass and abuse them "practicing politics the right way?" It's terrible Kirk was murdered. He still was an immoral grifter who profited off of social conflict.

Succinctly states where we are and what's happening. These three things, in addition to doing much else, are the sheet anchors of American wealth and power.
Three things made the US a rich and powerful nation: the rule of law, its science & innovation system, and openness to foreign talent. Remarkable how Trump has taken a sledgehammer to all three. No enemy of this country could do more.

Ono outdoes himself. He's reached peak Ono. The UC community had only an inkling of the self-serving heights this nincompoop (as one of my colleagues described him) would reach back in 2012 when he was just a baby president at Cincinnati.

"But betting on staying neutral and quiet on [SB 1] didn’t pay off for the institutions.

Gov. Mike DeWine’s budget proposal didn’t include that 2% funding bump after all. The governor’s plan calls for just a 0.1% boost next year."

Great strategy IUC! What a bunch of dopes.

Here’s why Ohio university presidents stayed quiet on Senate Bill 1
The lobbying group for the state’s public universities advised them to sit on the sidelines over Senate Bill 1, records show.

This craven announcement by the University of Cincinnati president in response to Ohio's proposed SB1 and the Department of Education's recent "Dear Colleague" letter has widely circulated through social media, justifiably as the object of much derision.

Big-time college football coaches saw an average 15 percent increase in pay last year. Even college presidents are jealous of that.
Why college football is king in coaching pay − even at blue blood basketball schools
Public schools in the Power Five conferences will pay their head football coaches an average of $6.2 million this year − a 14.3% increase from 2022.

Obviously it's gross and cretinous on the merits but there's something bleakly funny about the reactionaries and efficiency types burning down higher education being convinced that people will pay tuition for the experience of watching some PragerU video about how slavery was nicer than you think.

This is the same playbook at every university. Expect more out of fewer faculty and yet hire more administrative do-nothings, many of whom are compensated more substantially than the faculty.

The NLRB is legit making it easier to organize unions now, but if unions don't start investing in organizing, it's not going to matter.
