New Jeff Tweedy album & new Paul Thomas Anderson film out today.

Plus Stardust Memories released on this date in 1980; Abbey Road released & The Brady Bunch premiered in 1969; first US performance by Pink Floyd in 1967; & the birthdays of George Gershwin and Martin Heidegger.

Very Bruno-coded day.

School is here, autumn is near.

I find myself forever firmly in service and debt to the poetry and magic hiding plainly among the quotidian moments of a given day.

Allow yourself the time and permission to discover as much unheralded beauty as you can.

Garbage country, but here are some photographs I've made of fireworks anyway.

Another impeccable @recordcratesunited.bsky.social Garden Party is in the books, this time featuring the lilting folk reveries of Ornamental and the literate jangle boogie of Heat Manager. (I, very lamentably, had to leave before the @seawindofbattery.bsky.social / Royal Arctic Institute crossover.)

Happy Pops' Day to all the fellow dads out there trying to cultivate a few more kind, compassionate souls. Here are a couple good ones, Mike and Jarrod of @seawindofbattery.bsky.social, shot on 4x5 Ektachrome at last year's Deep in the Valley festival with a passel of children (none of them theirs).

Don't know about perfect, but if I'm being honest to my 16yo self (didn't get into Modest Mouse, Apples in Stereo, The White Stripes for another year) these were the contemporaneous releases with the heaviest rotation (although technically Midnite Vultures came out two days before my 16th birthday).

Exposed six sheets of 4x5 on New Year's Day, four @ilfordphoto.com HP5 and two Kodak Ektachrome. In hindsight, probably should have used color for the confetti cannon. Either way, here's to shooting more sheet film in 2025.

These are the only kinds of friends worth a damn.
I got one friend with whom I mainly talk about death and play music.

Went hard drive spelunking this morning and discovered amidst a very small cache of watercolors I'd painted ten years ago this nearly forgotten masterpiece: "Don't Hassle the Hof(ner)."
