Strong relationship here between wholesale electricity price and how close you are to a data center.

We reallly need to see data centers bringing their own (clean) energy with them

Delighted to see my alma mater @carleton.edu reporting a ~65% reduction in direct (Scope 1) emissions (v. 2008) thanks to major investments in EE and district geothermal/geo-exchange.

Based on the data we're seeing in my lab that's the 3rd/4th largest direct reduction in Scope 1 for any U.S. HEI.
Onward! Something good today.

Annual emissions report is up! unhsimap.org/public/insti...

As of FY24, @carleton.edu has reduced 71% of its Scope 1 & 2 emissions and 28% of its Scope 3 emissions. This includes major operational investment in district geothermal, passive housing, & more!

A belated photo from an after-work protest last week. Rallies and protests aren't sufficient, but they are necessary! A woman leaned out of her car window to shout to me that she didn't believe anyone cared until she saw this 300-person crowd. This is how we build capacity to force a change.

And it's getting worse: Liberty Mutual (CA's fourth-largest home insurer) plans to exit the condo/rental insurance markets in 2026.
As the planet warms, insurance companies are dropping homeowners in communities they deem too dangerous because of wildfires, hurricanes and other threats. Now, for the first time, the scale of that pullback is becoming public. nyti.ms/41EOpNc

Why did Republicans win every statewide race in PA, yet Dems still held the State House?

Statewide trends were driven mainly by urban areas while control of the State House is mainly decided by a handful of suburban districts – districts that came out more for their Dem. reps.

Despite shifting 1% to the right, NC, GA, and MI saw more dems come out in 2020 overall
