Our A to Z of Cornish gardens and gardening continues and for H we wanted to share one of Cornwall’s most magical of gardens – the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan were once part of a thriving Cornish estate owned by the Tremayne family of St Ewe.

Great work from Rachel & the team at Edinburgh University Archives.
A lovely story of an archivist reaching out for religious community support to fully understand a holy book in the collection, and that community getting a wonderful experience in return.

The Guru Granth Sahib is so fragile it was taken to Edinburgh Gurdwara in a special convoy by curators for just a few hours.

Not strictly a legal record, this Star Chamber diet book nevertheless informs us how the Privy Council sitting judicially in the Star Chamber ran the court. Or, at least, tells us the vast amount they ate and drank on a particular day [TNA E 407/55]

Currently doing some marking. A reminder to everyone involved in archives and collections: digitisation is not preservation. If I digitise a box of records and put the files on a USB stick I haven't preserved a thing. It's all about what you do with the files post-digitisation. #archives #digipres
