April 25, 1945 marks the end of the Nazi occupation of Italy. We honor those who chose to resist and those who died fighting.

The Benedicta massacre occurred between April 6 and 11, 1944, a few miles from my hometown. It’s the largest mass killing of the Italian Resistance, taking over 150 lives.

This is interesting. One can also interpret this in terms of aspirations—and maybe the connection between aspirations and expectations is cohort-specific. But still.
I haven't drilled down on the details of this survey. But even as anecdotal evidence of economic assumptions, it is clear that "relative deprivation" theory needs to be understood alongside a new "bubble" of economic expectations that will never be reached by most of us. www.cnbc.com/2024/11/22/s...

A counterexample: in my first election as a US voter, I supported the adoption of RCV in NYC based (among other things) on what I thought was a very compelling intuition. The math showed that the intuition was spectacularly incorrect
Here's Bryan Caplan writing about math in economics.

Seems very wrong to me. I wonder what the quickest refutation is that would make sense to most practicing economists.
