New album by Corserine is out today on Out yer Box, the sister label to Jack Said What.
Channeling the spirit of yacht rock, 80s synth pop and the airy vibe of French touch, it's an affecting musical listening experience. @irvinewelsh.bsky.social

1. In the wake on Mamdani’s win, we’ll see a lot more far right anti-urban sentiment. Here’s a thread on its roots and evolution.

The idea that the city is evil and corrupt, and the countryside innocent and pure, goes back a long way: to Theocritus in Alexandria, and to the Old Testament. 🧵

The first record I remember buying with my own pocket money — as opposed to Wombles things my brother and I seemed to acquire etc — was this beast from the local Woolies by the Boomtown Rats. Got to No.1, thanks to me (maybe). Not long after, I got sucked into the 2-Tone phenomenon and I was away. X

Was in the exceedingly multi-cultural area of Coventry, Stoke Park, at the weekend & some racist twonk had stickered all of the lamp-posts on both sides of the street with St George Crosses. The giveaway was 'Greens out, Reform in' written on one. Tore them down

Call me old fashioned, but I'd wager that people like these three neo-Nazis — who amassed an arsenal of 200 weapons — deserve to be labelled as 'domestic terrorists' a little bit more than some elderly vicars and grannies holding up a placard opposing a genocide.

A reminder to the Europeans watching, the US has no real history of general strikes.

So, this is what the Americans can do and they are doing it in a big way even if the media is not covering it that much.
The largest demonstration during Trump’s first term was around 750 events.

Is C4 suggesting that Kemi Badenoch has delivered her final conference speech as Tory leader already? I mean, she could've promised everybody in the UK a free house, or anything else — she's not going to get in next election. But how long will she last, & what other horrors might follow? (Jenerick)?
