A panorama from Cascade Mt summit on 2/1/26, taken just after 4 PM, soon after I arrived above treeline, as clouds were starting to fill in around the highest peaks.

Whiteface Mt from the summit of Cascade Mt on 2/1/26. I know it was below zero with a breeze blowing, and everything was snow and rime ice covered, but this photo sure has a 'dreamy' feel to it...

My first glimpse of the full Snow Moon from Cascade Mt. last evening as it rose through the glowing clouds above a snow capped Mt Mansfield in the Green Mountains of VT.

The full Snow Moon rising over the Adirondack landscape yesterday at 5:13 PM. After considering lots of locations to 'shoot the moon' last evening, I decided Cascade Mt would work best for my visions of a photo of a 'snow' moon.

A frosty sunrise over Lake Champlain on 1/28/26.

Sunrise over Lake Champlain yesterday morning. Not the best day to go sailing... Cold does settle into the low elevations. The car thermometer was 8 below in Brant Lake, 6 below in Ticonderoga, and 15 below when I got down to lake level along Lake Champlain.

Mid morning light on the Great Range from a shoulder of The Brothers, above the Johns Brook Valley yesterday morning.

The sun rose behind a shoulder of Giant this morning, highlighting the Great Range, First and Second Brother, and a shoulder of Big Slide. It was - minus 13 when I left the car at 5 AM, and minus 6 when I got back around 10 AM. I do love winter weather! (as long as I'm comfortable enough! lol)

I headed down to Lake George village this morning, hoping the aurora might pick up again. It didn't, so I thought I'd try getting photos of the Adirondac, that burned in early December. Wishing all the best for Shoreline Cruises and hoping the repairs progress smoothly as the weather cooperates.

Aurora colors behind clouds over Brant Lake at 6:32 last evening, as the storm was building towards a peak where the highest shafts went overhead a few minutes later.

I was hoping for clearer skies and a more active aurora, but between the clouds, and fact the strongest aurora arrived mid afternoon yesterday, I felt good I managed to catch a few short lived shafts in reasonably clear skies around 3:36 this morning.

Check out the latest Adirondack Life Magazine! This issue features a cover photo I captured on Blue Mountain during an afternoon adventure with my grandson last March. And no - this is not AI generated, or even a composite. It's a single shot with my Nikon Z6II and Z 14-24 2.8 lens.
