One day there will be an accounting. For all of this.

"When universities permit political or financial interests to muzzle scholars, they betray their core mission: the free pursuit of knowledge. Academic freedom is not a luxury — it is the very bedrock of institutional integrity."
One researcher's brave stand in the urgent defense of academic freedom • Louisiana Illuminator
Academic institutions exist to challenge the status quo, not protect it. Tulane has the opportunity to reaffirm that mission. It must not squander it.

🚨FINDINGS FROM MY REPORTING🚨

CFNL is like a lot of Christian Nationalist groups, in that they seem homegrown, but really, they aren't.

The founders of this group are connected.

One prominent connection is Louisiana US House Rep Clay Higgins.

He wants publicly funded church libraries. 🧵

🚨 NEW INVESTIGATION 🚨

“Soft targets”

That’s how CFNL refers to institutions like library boards, because they are easy to takeover.

And that’s what they’ve tried to do, and they’ve tried to do it quietly.

So I’ve spent the last year investigating them.

Even if you **think** you know what's behind the attacks on #libraries in #Louisiana, read this report.

It's all here - the connections, the influence peddling, the bullying of #librarians - with receipts.

This wasn't genuine concern about book content; it was a coordinated, professional campaign.

Last month I spoke with the Southern Poverty Law Center about book bans across our state & their direct impact on my community. Democracy begins with the freedom of expression; if you want to protect the Constitution, start there. These attacks are not random.
🚨The #freedomtolearn and literary expression is under attack across the South.

As book challenges and bans are on the rise, some libraries are facing censorship and even fines and jail when they disagree 🔗: www.splcenter.org/resources/st...
