I remember in 2008-2010 thinking "future of internet is mesh networks, everyone storing a bit of internet, maximum redundancy, robustness, decentralisation..."
Did it finally happened? missed the memo ..

That's was a super nice episode of many minds! This is a fascinating topic, presented by two great researchers. Hard not to want to explore more in depth kids culture after listening to that :D
Varieties of childhood 🏺🧪

Dr. Dorsa Amir & Dr. @sheinalew.bsky.social discuss different ways childhood differs, in terms of parents’ attitudes toward risk, in terms of social structures and activities in which kids are embedded, and in terms of freedom children are granted.

Awesome dive into the concept of panmixia & the reasons of its wide adoption in evolutionary biology (it's not just a convenient mathematical simplification!) And a great example of a fruitful collab between science & history of sciences, two communities that sadly are way too far from panmixia :)

Btw what I’m finding endearing in an (appropriately) old-fashioned way is that the entirety of our collaboration happened over one 100-message email thread spanning about three months.

never been a mac user but super fun to read and a lot to learn!
I wrote something new! It’s a UI design history essay about Mac’s Control Panel, and it uses emulation in some… maybe new and maybe interesting ways?

c'est a partir de quelle age que t'es obligé de parler à tes voisins de tablé dans le train quand t'es assis a une table de 4? genre au dessus de 60 ans? ou c'est just basé sur le pourcentage de cheveux blanc?

Thanks @durhamdcerc.bsky.social for the opportunity to present work I have been doing on ABM & archaeology. It was a great pleasure to be in Durham again and chat with you all. I made it through the flood, and I'm now on my way back with plenty of things to think about!
