Pax Christi International expresses its deep concern about the new "Board of Peace," which risks masking power politics and geopolitical interests under the rhetoric of peace without addressing the structural causes of injustice and violence, among many other troubling aspects.
Pax Christi International declaration on the so-called “Board of Peace”
On Thursday, January 22, President Trump announced the start of the "Board of Peace," which requires a $1 billion membership fee. According to Reuters, "US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the board's focus would be on making sure the plan for peace in Gaza was fulfilled but that it could also 'serve as an example of what's possible in other parts of the world.'"

Last month, an intergenerational group of Pax Christi members visited the US-Mexico border. We'll share some reflections from this immersion trip over the next few weeks -- the first reflection is written by Pax Christi Young Adult Caucus member Jeanelle Wheeler.
“The border is everywhere”: Peace Pairs pilgrimage of hope at the border
By Michelle ShermanPax Christi USA staff In mid-December, an intergenerational group of Pax Christi USA members participated in an encuentro border delegation as part of the Jubilee Year of Hope. The 12 participants from across the United States are involved in local immigrant support and advocacy networks; several of the participants are immigrants themselves. The majority of the group were young adults (under 40) and almost all were part of the…

Johnny Zokovitch writes that, as we reel in grief in response to the current administration's ongoing atrocities, "shock seems to be what we need right now. Shock that causes us to dig in and cry out, 'No more!'”
Blessed are the shocked
By Johnny Zokovitch The voice in my head is tinged with a note of scorn. I find myself, like many, flattened and stunned by the killing of Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis earlier this week, gunned down by an ICE agent. I’m shocked as I stare at the footage of her attempting to drive away and the shots being fired. Yet the voice in my head is judgmental about my shock.
