What if instead of saying, "Oh dear sweet baby jesus, he's gonna cancel the elections, isn't he?" we all put on our big girl panties and said, loudly and clearly... maybe with bullhorns & skywriting...

Don't you even fucking try.

I almost always find something illuminating in Loomis’ threads. Good stuff.
This Day in Labor History: January 24, 1848. James Marshall discovered gold at Sutter’s Mill in Coloma, California, near modern Sacramento. Let's talk about the California gold rush and the racialized and gendered labor that resulted as 300,000 people rushed there for gold!

America! What was it Reverend Jeremiah Wright said all those years ago?
bro there’s a gofundme to crowdfund attorney fees for a preschooler who was kidnapped by our federal government and shipped across state lines and his senator is posting about high school hockey while every other elected official is debating whether to give a zillion more dollars to the kidnappers

For all of the moralistic self-delusion inherent in “oh that just allows the people to bribe themselves with their own money,” those folk have no problem instead bribing unaccountable war profiteers with same. #BasicIncomeNow
Today is the day that everyone should know or remember that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. began advocating for universal basic income before he was killed. Everyone should also know why. Read his words about it to learn why. Lots of quotes from him here to help understand his reasoning:
"The time has come for us to civilize ourselves by the total, direct, and immediate abolition of poverty." — Martin Luther King Jr.

Judicial Warrants or no entry.
It feels like a good time to refresh this one. Know and recognize that not all warrants are the same and many of them do NOT grant legal authority to enter your home no matter what the masked gunman says.

bsky.app/profile/cast...
Know the difference between an administrative and a judicial warrant. One important distinction is that a judicial warrant authorizes entry into private spaces (your home, your work, etc, etc) where as an administrative warrant does NOT authorizes entry.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but cops are not allowed to shoot people just because you didn't do what they said.

That is called murder when they do that.

Some cops are working hard to convince people otherwise.

This of course only the modern name. The hamlet was originally listed in the Domesday Book as Grope Cunting.
Fun fact: poundcake is named that because according to tradition it was originally invented in Poundtown, South Yorkshire, in the wapentake of Bottomstuff.

Poundtown is only 17 kilometers from Penistone, the latter can in fact be seen from its highest point, Cock's Crest Tower.
