Documents show RFK Jr lied to Congress about his agenda in Samoa—he did indeed go to spread anti-scientific doubts about vaccines. He was ultimately successful in getting an outbreak going there that killed 83 people, mostly babies and young children.
RFK Jr said during his Senate confirmation hearings that his trip to Samoa in 2019 ahead of a devastating measles outbreak had “nothing to do with vaccines." Documents obtained by @us.theguardian.com and @apnews.com undermine that testimony. Details here, by me and @aliswenson.bsky.social ⬇️
Newly revealed emails undermine RFK Jr testimony about 2019 Samoa trip ahead of measles outbreak
Kennedy later said the purpose of his trip had nothing to do with vaccines. US embassy and UN staff at the time said otherwise, emails show

They’re taking children from Minnesota and locking them up like criminals in detention camps in Texas.

For the love of God, send our kids home and bring an end to this nightmare.

These kids should be going to school. Playing with their friends. Eating dinner with their families.

Detaining them is cruel and inhumane.

Can we please, just for a moment, focus on the guns that are killing our kids and not their phones.
The national rate of pediatric firearm deaths increased by 54% from 2004 to 2023, with most U.S. kids now living in states where firearm injury is the leading cause of death.

It really is a genuine tragedy for public health that what used to be a non partisan issue—fighting cancer—is now a partisan one

We could ELIMINATE cervical cancer, but, sadly, animus towards vaccines is now the default MAGA/MAHA position, & it looks like RFK Jr is coming for HPV vaccines next
What strikes me about this is that “beating cancer” is the most universal, nonpartisan issue it feels like has ever existed.

Which side is “pro cancer” was not a question I ever expected an answer too.

The public is ignorant but every politician that has existed is like “We’re gonna beat cancer!”
I am hearing that RFK Jr.’s minions are going to go after HPV vaccines. I’ve got problems with these people and now you’re going to hear about them, first from a personal perspective and then from a professional one.

It all boils down to this: WE HAVE A SAFE VACCINE THAT PREVENTS CANCER.

In Minnesota, scores of ordinary people are bravely looking out for their neighbors, defending their communities, and protesting lawless violence.

They are the best of America.

The top cause of death among American kids is guns

Yet in RFK Jr’s first MAHA report, coauthored by Drs Bhattacharya & Makary, entitled “Make Our Children Healthy Again,” there is no mention of guns

And these 3 kooky, dangerous dudes have successfully rolled back vaccination 😢
They could have gone after guns

They chose to go after vaccines

One kills children while the other saves them

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's speech today is one of the most insightful, albeit sobering, political speeches in a long time. Carney tells it as it is: "If you're not at the table you'll be on the menu."

Adults broke the internet and are trying to fix it by kicking children and teens off. Instead of banning and blaming the victims, a better place to start would be cleaning it up for everyone.

Politicians are failing us all with harsh policies for kids but a pass for perpetrators of CSAM.
Elon Musk's X is currently mass-producing deepfake images of women and children.

The federal government — which says it's "committed to restricting access to nudify tools" — has no plans to stop its 7 figure X annual advertising spend or using it as a major comms platform
The Australian government is spending millions supporting Elon Musk's deepfake porn factory, X
A spokesperson for the prime minister says the government is committed to protecting Australians from online harms. Tell that to the Australian victims of X-produced image-based abuse.

If only adults could pay attention to something other than teenagers’ phones…
Today I note how, after Florida implemented their #cellphoneban in schools, Florida's national standardized testing scores dropped.

We need to work harder to improve schools by improving schools, not by banning technology.
