AAPM, here I come! Only my 2nd time ever, and 7 years since I last went 😳 Have acquired a few more grey hair & wrinkles in the meantime, but still excited to hear what’s happening on the other side of the pond. And please all reach out if you want to meet up! #medphys #AAPM2025

Biked the 7km home in the rain in high heels and a dress. I believe this means I’m now formally reassimilated? 🇩🇰 🚴‍♀️

My inaugural lecture as Professor of Clinical Medical Physics at Rigshospitalet and DTU will be on the 6th Oct at 3pm in Auditorium 1, Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen

It would be lovely to see a lot of familiar faces, for the lecture and for the reception afterwards ☺️

Survived the first week in my new workplace. Got an office, computer, keys & ID card - and so many lovely and welcoming colleagues. Key items have been added to my empty office shelves, and I’ve got tentative plans for stuff to work on over the coming months. Could do with some sleep, though 😂

Apparently blocks of perspex do indeed show up as water equivalent on airport security scanners. Lesson learned, I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️ #medphys

For noen kan et lite regnbueflagg bety at vi føler oss tryggere. Man ser flagget og tenker; « her kan jeg passe inn»
En enkel måte å vite at jeg også blir satt pris på.

Veldig fin video

Oh well, that didn’t quite go to plan … Got 9 hours of restful sleep and a shower, but now stuck in Cologne waiting for a replacement bus. At least I’ve got good company! #ESTRO25

What a blast - #ESTRO25 has been absolutely amazing 🙌
The scientific programme was outstanding: not only the clinical track - with many, many large trials reported - but also extremely strong #medphys, #RTT and #radbio tracks

Interesting perspective on #ESTRO25 from a #healthecon researcher. Where is all the research on decision making, patient preferences, valuation - and, to some extend, QoL and PROMs?
I have to say I don't feel like I've gotten a lot out of #ESTRO25 overall. On the one hand, fair dos, it's a clinical conference and I'm not a clinician. But I work on preferences/decision-making/QOL/etc. and that seems really relevant to the area.

Love it when a plan comes together! This year’s joint #ESTRO25-AAPM symposium is the culmination of 3 years of cross-Atlantic #reirradiation collaboration🤩
🔹Chuck Mayo: #medphys-led workflows
🔹Søren Bentzen: #radbio
🔹Marija Popovic: dose accumulation
🔹Lone Hoffmann: reRT trial design & QA

Dose metrics linked to bowel toxicity for rectal RT in the RAPIDO trial: Amazing work by Max Tanaka from NKI

Medium-to-high dose volumes for bowel bag (RTOG or Embrace) best predictors for both acute & late toxicity - V30Gy for LCRT, V20Gy for short course #ESTRO25 #radonc #medphys

Inter-centre variation in image registration for #reirradiation from DK: Two great studies from collaborators presented at #ESTRO25
Conclusions: Image registration-based dose accum for reRT is feasible. For lung, DIR is better than RIR. Radiobio factors largest source of variation #radonc #medphys

Great to see first outputs from ESTRO-EORTC ReCare cohort on high-dose #reirradiation - such data are sorely needed! Jonas Willmann presented characteristics for first 290 patients #ESTRO25; w/ large groups of thoracic & pelvic cancers. Current patient enrolment closing in on 500 patients! #radonc

What a way to celebrate a paper! Arnaud Beddok had arranged for chocolate and champagne for the whole co-author group to mark the acceptance of a large review paper for publication. Way to set the bar high for future papers 😅 #ESTRO25 #radonc #medphys

Loads of interesting #irradiation sessions today as well at #ESTRO25!

Amazing Reirradiation Meet&Greet session at #ESTRO25 today! Fantastic turnout, and great opportunity to present how much we’ve already done on #reirradiation within ESTRO

Now really looking forward to working with all the new members of the Reirradiation Focus group #radonc #medphys

Slightly delayed, but a summary of the key reirradiation sessions and presentation at today's #ESTRO25

In particular, note the dedicated #RTT and #brachytherapy reirradiation sessions 😍

I’m SO delighted to finally see first STAR-TREC data reported 🤩 #ESTRO25

Short course RT vs chemorad for organ preservation in early stage rectal cancer

61% vs 80% TME-free survival at 12 months ➡️ More organ preservation with long-course chemorad!

PLATO ACT 4 results for dose de-escalation in early-stage anal cancer are out! Prof Sebag-Montefiore presents on the plenary stage at #ESTRO24

3-year locoregional failure 16.4% for standard dose IMRT vs 12.4% reduced dose IMRT

Primary endpoint is met! Reduced dose IMRT is safe & effective

Yesterday was terrible for my coffee sampling! Far too busy meeting people, and only managed a single coffee from the GE stand. At least it was a delightful reunion with both their barista and their excellent coffee (and the queue was short!). #ESTRO25 #CoffeeChallenge

Things that make me happy:
Seeing an RT planning & evaluation solution for #reirradiation that I’ve helped develop in its (nearly) final version. Amazing work by @raysearchlabs.bsky.social @solstina.bsky.social @crukradnetleeds.bsky.social & colleagues.
Probably highlight of #ESTRO25 so far for me 😍

How do patients prioritise different aspects of non-operative rectal cancer treatment?

We conducted a prospective, longitudinal multicentre study alongside a clinical trial, asking rectal cancer patients undergoing definitive RT to help us understand their treatment preferences
#ESTRO25 #RadOnc
Off to my first #ESTRO 2025 session today!

Here's our poster, a DCE on preferences for non-surgical rectal cancer treatment. We found:

- patients accepted more toxicity for a greater chance of cure
- long-term side effects more important than short-term
- preferences stable pre/post-treatment

I’ve been far too busy with meetings 😳 So no coffees sampled yet 🫣
(I know, I know, I’m really letting the side down …)
Everybody else, please tell me what should be my first break stop in the exhibition hall???

Important (and puzzling) results from the Skagen Trial 1:
Moderate hypofractionation for high-risk (node-positive) breast cancer patients does not increase arm lymphoedema - but is *does* seem to increase the breast-cancer related mortality 😲
