A Buzzard hanging in the easterly wind above the coastal path at Maenporth this afternoon. Slightly disconcerting to have it stare straight down the lens towards me at one point. 4 Great Northern Divers in the bay, 15 Fulmar on the cliffs at Swanpool, not much else around today. #cornwallbirding

Common Redshanks fighting each other for several minutes on Hayle Estuary today, sometimes one holding the other one under the water. Both eventually walked away, seemingly none the worse for wear. Near-adult Glaucous Gull still at Lelant and Great Egret at Ryan's Field. #cornwallbirding

Male Black Redstart catching flies in its usual position on Castle Beach this afternoon. It was active for quite a while before the hail started. #cornwallbirding More photos (better quality than on BlueSky) can be found on my Flickr photo stream: www.flickr.com/photos/calid...

Male Black Redstart on Castle Beach, Falmouth this morning. A beautiful and quite confiding bird, pulling out washed up seaweed from the crevices in the rocks against the seawall, in the search for invertebrates. #cornwallbirding

1st winter Great Black-backed Gull on Castle Beach, Falmouth on 1st January. This bird was presumably ringed locally in Cornwall with a white ring and L:HD2 in red characters @crazygulllady.bsky.social ??

Grey Seal eating a Wrasse yesterday morning and a Great Northern Diver virtually on the beach at Gyllyngvase yesterday evening as it was getting dark.

Little Grebes on Swanpool this morning. One caught a crab but later dropped it when another grebe popped up right next to it.

Jersey-ringed 1W Great Black-backed Gull with metal ring ending "....771" on Castle Beach at lunchtime today. Awaiting ringing details. I didn't notice, but it probably has been feeding on the Grey Seal carcass that's been on the beach for a while. @crazygulllady.bsky.social #cornwallbirding

Rock Pipits catching flies along the seawall step at Gylly Beach this morning.

Some absolute bonkers feeding by the Turnstones on Castle Beach this afternoon! The previous tide had dumped a load of seaweed on top of the outer rocks and this afternoon's incoming tide was flushing out sand hoppers etc that the turnstones were feeding on.

Kittiwake feeding in the surf at Gylly Beach this morning. Also strange looking Black-headed Gull with elongated bill/face, but could just be an optical illusion from white on the forehead and chin making the bill look longer and heavier.

2 Sanderlings feeding amongst the Turnstones at Gylly Beach, Falmouth this morning. Also 1 Great Northern Diver offshore. No sign of the reported possible Ross's Gull between Castle Beach and Swanpool, although the weather at the weekend might bring something back in.

At least 2 Yellow-browed Warblers at Swanvale, Falmouth this morning. Unfortunately neither of them were particularly obliging for photographs!

Also, Polish-ringed Black-headed Gull [Yellow T3X5] back at Swanpool for winter; I've previously seen it here in 2017, 2019 & 2021 (photo from last week).
