I’ve always disliked the phrase “have a good day” or worse “have a good one”. They are such meaningless comments. I’ve changed my thanks to anyone providing service to “I hope your day is filled with happy customers”. It’s amazing even the grumpiest clerk returns a big smile. And I mean it!

What mystifies me as a Canadian is that in America the party of the Governor or President who pick a judge matters. As if real justice and laws are so flexible that political party matters in a legal decision.

In all my reading of history I can’t find an example of a democracy dieing in a month. American institutions are all compromised by MAGA leadership. An oligarch has taken the most valuable data on millions of Americans. Threats to take over sovereign territories. And protections nowhere.

Just finished Navalny’s book Patriot. The take away for me is that we can’t let totalitarian ideologies take root in US or Canada cuz once installed they are very hard to remove except by violent overthrow. We, my Bluesky friends, must work to ensure this does not happen. Getting close!!!

Just now reading Navalny’s book Patriot. Sure seems that dump and the repubs are merging two paths from history. The first is the rise of Nazis in Germany and the move to oligarchy in Russia. More discrimination and personal attacks while the insiders get rich. Everyone one else gets fu&$ed

I just don’t understand Canadian cons and US republicans going on about how broken our countries are. Canada shows up in every international scale of quality countries and the last four years in US have seen economic growth and structural improvements. WE ARE NOT BROKEN -YET. I fear for future.

I’m now starting to worry. I’m 76 and enjoy the social safety net that is provided by Canada. I’m living in Alberta where prov govt is spiralling into MAGA North. If federal cons get into power I fear for a down-sliding of so many programs that make all Canadians better off. And now Drump! In US

I was looking for some uplifting music this morning. I listened to the sound track for Come From Away and I realized we Canadians can rise to even the most surprising emergency together. I’m reminded that no matter what happens south of us or within our country we will be ok together.
