In other news, water is wet and snow is cold. If you watch the documentary tonight and next week you'll get a better idea of who/which organisations were responsible for the scandal
The former governor of the Central Bank, Patrick Honohan, has said the organisation was probably too trusting of the banks when it was dealing with the tracker mortgage scandal.

Just because the rate of food inflation has eased, doesn't mean it's negative inflation. It's still increasing, albeit at a slower rate. Sigh. The CSO CPI figures today are not good news for those struggling with the cost of food at the moment. #costofliving

"Pregnant women and mothers already beat themselves up endlessly about how their children turn out; this is what makes the latest damaging comment from Donald Trump, connecting paracetamol during pregnancy to autism, so reprehensible."

Suzanne Crowe: Trump linking paracetamol with autism is misinformation at its most horrible
Shaming of mothers and their actions before, during or after childbirth is as old as time and is profoundly misogynistic

My research on the increase in grocery prices of budget food, North & South, of the border takes up all of Page 8 of @irishexaminer.bsky.social today. I think it really displays why we are all struggling with the cost of groceries at the moment. www.irishexaminer.com/news/spotlig...
Grocery prices soar: Is it still cheaper to shop in Northern Ireland?
Once a bargain-hunting hotspot, Northern Ireland is no longer a cheaper alternative for Irish grocery shoppers as prices soar

I’ve temporarily taken the paywall off this article, in the hopes that it can raise awareness about how to push back effectively against Trump—and also how to understand the world we’re heading toward: competitive authoritarianism.
I wrote about how Trump is destroying American democracy, along with eight crucial lessons about how to counteract it, drawing on my 14 years of studying brave pro-democracy opposition movements in authoritarian regimes across the globe. We’re in serious trouble, but there’s still hope.
Is American democracy doomed?
How to understand the concept of "competitive authoritarianism" and why it's crucial to push back now to avoid it.

After seeing the best offer for 100g Easter eggs was 3-for-4 & with @deshocks.bsky.social annual chats about packaging, I’m going to make a conscious choice this year. Book tokens for the niblings it is instead. Brain food feels more appropriate lately!

“A colossal missed opportunity” - a clear message in a new report from from Ireland’s fiscal and climate advisory councils.

Instead of taking action to cut emissions (making energy cleaner & more secure, & diversifying farming) we face €26 billion in compliance costs to meet EU targets

I got a quote to upgrade my (double glazed) windows. Only €14,000 😱
My windows still work but are a bit drafty. So instead I paid €150 to have my hinges checked and replaced if necessary. Job done. No more drafts. I saved a lot.
TLDR: the best product is the one you have that works. Repairing rocks

In knots laughing at a certain influencer advertising a well-known meal kit box without even showing the food. Don't waste your money folks. I have reviewed it in the past (paid for myself) and it was horrendous. Not to mention the workers rights issues (transpired after my review). #GoodbyeFresh

Why the síneadh fada (the accents over #Irishlanguage
vowels) matter:

Órla (name) - Orla (vomit)
Tonóg (a duck) - Tónóg (small-arsed)
Cráic (anus) - Craic (i.e. havin' the craic)
Anás (poverty) - Anas (Anus)
Steámar (stale piss) - Steamar (scrap of)
Cáca (cake) - Caca (shit)
