NEW from my colleague Doug Sword: House Budget Chair and W&M member Jodey Arrington says “momentum” exists among House Republicans to launch 2025 with a skinny budget reconciliation bill on border security that is fully paid for followed by a sweeping tax bill: www.taxnotes.com/tax-notes-to...

House & Senate Dems told us they were fighting to add a provision in the CR to fix the frozen funding, but it didn't make the cut.

Republicans have made no secret of targeting the expanded IRS funding from the IRA - an effort very likely to continue in 2025 under a GOP trifecta.
On tax in the CR:

OUT: Anomaly language to address the $20 billion frozen IRS IRA enforcement funds

IN: The Strengthening State and Tribal Child Support Enforcement Act & a one-year delay of the Corporate Transparency Act’s reporting requirements

House FSGG ranking member Steny Hoyer is “not optimistic” the anomaly providing a fix to the IRS frozen IRA enforcement funding made it into the CR agreement.

“I’m not optimistic — I’d be very pleased if it is in there, and it ought to be in there.”
