Good point. Of course, I'm of the old school mentality for getting rid of the playoff altogether. Back to the classic bowl games, polls, and endless debates. Alas, way too much money being made for my fantasy to ever become reality.

To be fair, the NFL is a single league with rules in place to guarantee relative parity across teams. There's a chasm of difference in terms of funding, facilities, etc between NCAA conferences.
