Bonkers about #slugs #bugs #hens & #compost. Poor relationship with fake lawns, slug pellets, fascists, & God. Selective mute with no detectable sense of humour. Proofreading skills? None.

A #ladybug preparing for takeoff
They can eat up to 5,000 aphids in their lifetime, making them natural pest controllers!
In some cultures they’re associated with luck

Another female Thomisidae but this time it's Misumena vatia, the flower crab spider.

It's impressive how big of a prey spiders can catch, this one snatched a bee that's bigger than her!

This pic was not intentional. I thought the fly looked a bit distressed as I passed, so I took a pic to find out why.

#Misumenavatia (I think). Super special - they can change colour at will.

Did we already tell that we live in Sjaaks woods this year. ?
We really miss him, but we love to live here.

I probably should’ve mentioned that, ‘I love #dandelions’ is my 2nd most frequently used post-it note during #spring. The 1st being, ‘WTF do you think you’re doing with that slug? Put it back, right now’

#Ants are brilliant accidental #pollinators, & not too shabby at #soil regeneration, either.

When you’ve finished exercising in the park this year please empty any unused water from your flask around any staked tree 💦 🌳

Thank you 🙏

🪶 ⌛ for a cardinal of the day bonus

Mrs Bishop, the female cardinal, does not take any 💩 here she is telling dovely, the morning dove, that she needs to eat from the ground. She is currently 🚫 feeder eating, she has been too aggressive and has been trying to sleep in the feeder tray again

Hate that. You sit down in your PJs with every intention of having an early night because you've got a 5k in the morning, & suddenly it's "Where's my crochet, Kev? Kev? No! Nonononono! I've left him on the allotment!!".

Raised beds help. I use two pallet collars stacked one on top of the other. They're about a tenner each second hand & you'll get a 1 x 1.2m bed, about a foot deep. Plant some sacrificial garlic around the base so you keep crushing the stems as you walk on them. The smell deters rats & cats as well.

First #ladybird of the year.

I had to move both of the apple trees from the old hen yard, about a month ago. I didn’t think they’d go for it, but here they are.
