I’m relieved that after a three week delay, Illinois families will receive full SNAP benefits on November 20th. We can’t forget that this pain was entirely avoidable – a crisis manufactured by President Trump who refused to send out benefits to hungry families.

President Trump is shutting down the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau – the agency in charge of capping credit card fees, protecting your private data, and taking on predatory payday lenders. This move is a handout for Wall Street at the expense of working people.

Last night, Republicans passed a government funding bill that does nothing to lower healthcare costs – but the fight isn’t over.

Without the ACA tax credits, health insurance premiums will double for millions. That’s why I’m going to keep pushing for to extend these critical subsidies long term.

A home should be a place of comfort and safety– but the management at Sangamon Towers has failed its residents. My team has reached out to HUD officials & is in active conversations with local residents & stakeholders to make this right. Everyone deserves to feel safe & comfortable where they live.

This Veterans Day, join me in honoring each of the brave men and women who stepped up to serve our country in uniform. I will never forget the sacrifices they’ve made to defend our democracy and I will never stop fighting for them and their families.

In rural areas like Macoupin County, access to health care is a distinct challenge – and in an emergency, every second counts. Today, I met with EMTs in Gillespie to talk about what Congress can do to support rural ambulance services and ensure every American can access the care they need.

New analysis just confirmed what Illinois families already know: energy costs are rising.

President Trump promised that energy bills would be “cut in half” when he took office. Instead, Illinoisans have seen their annual costs go up $200.

This week, I visited The Land Connection in Champaign to hear how local producers and neighbors are being impacted by so much uncertainty around SNAP benefits. Delaying these benefits for hungry Americans isn’t just cruel, it impacts our entire food system.

November is Rural Health Month. Ensuring that our rural communities in Central and Southern Illinois have access to quality care is one of my top priorities and I’m going to keep fighting back against Republican cuts that put our rural hospitals at risk.
