Retired with my husband and now living in the NE GA mountains. We’re in Rabun County, Georgia. I’m half Costa Rican (Tica)
We harvested all the remaining jalapeños today and packed 4 jars to ferment. I added fresh dill, carrots, onions, lots of garlic and cauliflower to round them out. Now I wait about 3 weeks before opening. Yum!

It makes me sad when I remember even modest churches of old built with cut glass or stained windows and tall steeples. So many ugly, ugly churches today are built out of metal and look so UGLY!!

Unfortunately an ugly “church of the mountains” has been built on the top of a prominent hill in the center of our town. Why build a metal warehouse and then cut down the trees that would have hidden this monstrosity of a building.

A friend tells me that federal agents are scanning social media on phones at Democratic rallies!! Are we in Russia? China? Nazi Germany is where we are headed with the wanna be King Trump destroying our constitution.

Does anybody know what’s going on with ICE in Rabun County Georgia?

We have not even managed 3 miles in an hour of sitting and barely creeping along.

We recently had friends over for dinner on the back deck and then we enjoyed a fire on the side garden with roasted and burnt marshmallows

We have several blueberry bushes on our upper hill. One early variety already gave us a couple of bowls of blueberries until either the little bear we have had to chase off or the deer found it. So far they haven’t touched the green ones on the other two bushes.

Warren is smoking a chuck roast which we found is much better on the smoker than a leaner cut of meat. Oh my, the meat smells heavenly.

I generally don’t keep a water dish outside because scary bugs show up. My dog always has fresh water inside that she drinks when she wants. In addition we have a fenced backyard and a very wonderful pet door for her to come and go as she pleases.

It has become obvious in the last month or so that our weather forecasting has become really bad. The massive cuts at NOAA has affected the accuracy of the national weather prediction and monitoring service. But the stupid Trump cult will just blame the Democrats? Immigrants?

Those of you living in Rabun County might (like me) have checked the weather app to see how long this rain is going to last only to find that according the the weather app is isn’t raining at all.

Spring is here and we are loving the warmer weather. Of course with warmer weather comes pollen and allergy season. However the bees are buzzing and the squirrels are making nooky in the trees. So all is good today. Just as long as I don’t look at my retirement savings in the stock market!

Pennies? Apparently our President has ordered the mint to stop making pennies. For years and years I’ve read that it actually cost much more that a penny to make a penny but that the copper industry has a robust lobbying arm that has prevented this move.

The acoustic guitar is made from koa we bought on vacation in Hawaii. The electric guitar is one that he made for a friend as a copy of “Big Red” from Queen.

The wood glows outside. The outer edge is koa and the inner pieces are cherry, hickory and maple.

My husband is an incredible woodworker. He took scraps of wood from his guitar making to make me this cutting board
