Reform UK will also pledge to increase the NHS surcharge for foreigners in Britain from £1,035 to £2,718 a year raising £5billion a year. Farage argues that the increased charge would be fair because it would reflect the cost per person of the total NHS budget for England

@jamesbowes01.bsky.social Farage will give 4.2million EU citizens who are claiming universal credit in the UK three months' notice before ending their benefit payments. If the EU refuses to accept the terms Reform will take unilateral action regardless of the threat of 'trade retaliation"

Be interesting if any actually do. Really can’t see India keeping the trade deal if they do get sanctioned.

@jamesbowes01.bsky.social A ten-year pathway will also be created for those who arrive in the UK legally, under new specific refugee settlement routes to be announced by Mahmood on Thursday.
November 15, 2025 at 9:06 PM
@jamesbowes01.bsky.social The changes, hailed as the largest overhaul since the Second World War, will apply only to new arrivals.
November 15, 2025 at 9:06 PM
@jamesbowes01.bsky.social Mahmood will also announce that refugee status is to become temporary, and those whose countries become safe will be immediately made to go home. Their refugee status will be reviewed every 30 months.
November 15, 2025 at 9:05 PM
@jamesbowes01.bsky.social Shabana Mahmood has vowed to end Britain’s “golden ticket” for asylum seekers by forcing people arriving illegally to wait 20 years before they can apply for permanent settlement.

@jamesbowes01.bsky.social

“While this might seem like a small technical shift, this new settlement marks the most significant shift in the treatment of refugees since the Second World War.”

“Mahmood will change that, making refugee status temporary and subject to regular review. The moment your home country is safe to return to, you will be removed.

@jamesbowes01.bsky.social I disagree with Sky News here I think Reform and Tories wouldn’t mind Labour adopting Denmark’s polices. It would further split Labour’s vote like it has in Denmark. But Denmark doesn’t have FPTP so vote splits have a different impact to the UK. news.sky.com/story/denmar...
Reform's been pretty quiet since Labour started exploring Danish migration model - and this is why
Many on the left are deeply alarmed about the UK following a more draconian Danish path - with MPs like Nadia Whittome and Clive Lewis describing their ideas as "hardcore", "dangerous", "far right" an...

Sounds like citizenship so going to 15 years or something

@samfr.bsky.social Tories have set Labour up with the new food waste/slop bins coming. My local councillor and many of their colleagues know Labour is going to lose voters on it but are still going ahead with the foxers paradise according to my local newspaper.

I've been a trustee at the Holocaust Educational Trust for a while now so I see all the stats and it's so dispiriting.

I think we do a good job fighting back through education but it sometimes feels like trying to hold back the tide with a leaky bucket.

One reflection talking to other Jews today is how unshocking this is.

Numbing, upsetting, scary but not shocking. We all knew it was coming. Given the enormous rise in antisemitic incidents in recent years, it's a surprise it hasn't happened more often.

Literally been chatting with a friend about how we’re all waiting to find out if it was the Islamists this time or the neo-Nazis this time or a door number three
Still, at least it is a distraction from spending Yom Kippur contemplating “which of the ideologies that want us dead is behind this attack, and how will it strengthen the other ideologies that also want us dead?”
