Just once I would like to read an obit that states “We celebrate the blessed release of our 96 year-old loved one, hallelujah and Godspeed!”

@ouropinions.bsky.social I’m sooo sad … but I also totally get it. Life/work moves on.
And now, I can go back and revisit the archives….
*Thankful* for all the work, thoughts, and humor you put into every single episode. 🌟🌟🌟
It's our last episode! We're so grateful to everyone who's listened to us for the past 7 years.

We're using this occasion to talk about the state of science fiction and fantasy in the 21st century — and what has shaped the stories we've loved.

We need it. Not only are the classes full, but also concert halls, libraries - we've gone to a bunch of classical concerts this year as an antidote to despair and guess what - they are full. They were not as full before, but they are now.

"Humanities are shrinking" is artificially imposed top down.
"While other universities report that the humanities are shrinking, at Berkeley, the opposite is true. The music major is the fastest-growing major on campus. We are finding bigger classrooms because film is exploding. English is back to the numbers we saw 15 years ago. We are hiring" bit.ly/4ohKuOe

Remember: The oligarchs who control our economy and democracy seek to divide us so they can become more powerful.

They want us to turn on each other so we don't look up and see where all the wealth and power have gone.

Don't fall for it.

The penultimate episode? Oh no! 😭
Frankenstein is everywhere right now -- but why does it still hold so much power? In our latest episode, we talk about how different people have reimagined this 200+ year old story -- and why Victor Frankenstein is the ultimate Bad Science Daddy.

The Third Reich didn't last 1,000 years.

Pinochet was ousted with a referendum.

And the US isn't exactly dealing with the smartest, most competent fascists.

Those of you insisting that 2025 is forever need to read a book, touch grass, go to therapy, anything other than trying to make others quit.

No, I don’t believe the life of a tree is worth more than the life of a human. But trees are beings too. Olive trees can live for hundreds of years, bearing fruit and nourishing generations. So yes, this was murder.
