Even under lighter winds, this fire moves. Live fuel moistures below 40%, fire behavior in oakbrush almost indistinguishable from pinyon-juniper. Extreme drought conditions are evident.

Today's environment had the ingredients for deep pyroCb formation from the get-go. The final factor (clearing cloud cover) arrived late afternoon, and boom.
Needless to say, significant expansion to evac zones southward along CR 5/Hwy 13 corridors for the Lee Fire today. #COwx #LeeFire

Tragic accident on the Million Dollar Highway derailed today's arrival in Meeker.
Detoured via Telluride, and captured some images of the Stoner Mesa fire which punched some pyroCu.
Hectic day of travel and weather support for 4 separate incidents.

Tras explorar el área del proyecto y recopilar datos, toca refinar el pronóstico. Mañana será la primera oportunidad. Eso sí, con posibilidad de algún chubasco - no deja de ser primavera en Colorado 🌦
