I write/draw comic book things, and recreate classic comic art. I also do a lot of Muppet movie mashups. For commission info, email brucemccorkindale@gmail.com
Left: Neal Adams's rejected cover art to X-MEN #56. Right: the final, published version.

I'm guessing the original was rejected due to twitchiness about X-men being crucified on their own logo...? When I first saw the book as a kid, I assumed the main character was a very tall cowboy robot.

In 1946, cartoonist & illustrator Noel Sickles was sent by Life magazine to sketch the Nuremberg trials. Here is his sketch of the execution of Joachim Von Ribbentrop, who claimed at trial that his boss had made all of the important decisions, & that he was only following orders.

A comparison of the original art to DAREDEVIL #81, page 1 with the printed version. Jack Abel wasn't my favorite inker over Gene Colan, but I do think the work suffered a lot from the printing process. In print, Jack's fine lines ended up much scratchier-looking, or dropped out altogether.

Very sad to hear that Catherine O'Hara has died. My favorite O'Hara works were the first I saw her in (SCTV) and the last (SCHITT'S CREEK). I also loved her in anything, everything inbetween. R.I.P.

Decided to give today's background entertainment a theme! They aren't very similar (except in name), although there is a breakdown of civilization vibe in both. Which I relate to right now.

Film: enjoyable, although Australian Anthony Perkins is jarring. Album: Side 1: OK. Side 2: Brilliant.

I was very sad to hear that Sal Buscema died over the weekend. Today would have been his 90th birthday. My first exposure to Sal was buying AVENGERS #69 at my local drugstore. After that, I was always happy to see his name show up in a book. R.I.P.

A while back, someone hired me to complete the inks on this original, unfinished Marshall Rogers splash. My recollection is that it was on his drawing board when he died. Hopefully, I did it justice. #FlashbackFriday
