If we are to deprive political violence of its power, we must reject anyone who commits or promotes it - and also reject any move to exploit it.

The killing of Kirk is totally reprehensible. Not only is it wrong on the every level, it also does not serve the defense of democracy. I fear that trump will use this to his own ends.

Greg Abbott and Texas Republicans are exploiting flood relief to push MAGA maps that silence Texans and protect Trump from accountability in 2026. Texans deserve fair maps and leaders who put people over politics. #txlege @kendallscudder.bsky.social

The more I hear about the absolute failure of every level of local, state, and national response to the flooding, just pisses me off. This could have been prevented. It didn't have to happen. These people should be ashamed of themselves.

So, if their response is "God will provide", then that's not an acceptable response. You are responsible for those dead girls.
Really?

Experts say Camp Mystic's requests to amend the FEMA map could have been an attempt to avoid the requirement to carry flood insurance, to lower the camp's insurance premiums or to pave the way for renovating or adding new structures under less costly regulations.

Federal regulators repeatedly granted appeals to remove Camp Mystic's buildings from their 100-year flood map, loosening oversight as the camp operated and expanded in a dangerous flood plain.

I don’t care what side of the aisle you’re on, the President of the United States even joking about revoking someone’s citizenship should be met with universal condemnation.

This is *unconscionable.* People *died* because red voters wanted to make a political point. 🤬🤬
In 2021, Biden admin awarded Kerr County TX $10m in American Rescue Plan Act funds, which could have been used for flood prevention infrastructure. But commissioners, facing political pressure from conservative residents, opted not to pursue warning system. www.texastribune.org/2025/07/10/t...

Texas Republicans doing what they always do after a disaster that could have been mitigated (the flood) or prevented (school shootings): lecture us about "politicizing" it then refusing to take any responsibility whatsoever

These guys think they should police every bathroom in every high school in America, but asking them to think of what they could do to prevent kids from drowning in Texas is just rude.

I'm a committed progressive living 15 mi away. People who say we deserve this are wrong & demonstrate that a-holes are not limited to the ultra right. The people impacted are hurting and they need our help. I'm proud of the response from our community - regardless if I agree with them politically.

This is heartbreaking 💔

Families came to camp for the 4th. Now children are missing, swept away by floods they were never warned about.

The administration gutted the National Weather Service, cutting staff, slashing funding, crippling early warnings.

This isn’t just failure. It’s unforgivable.

We’ve bombed Iran. And dismantled our joint terrorism task force. And sent a third of the FBI to help ICE. And gutted the National Security Council. And a drunk guy is in charge at the pentagon. And our intelligence allies probably won’t share intel with us. Because people couldn’t vote for a woman.
