It's always funny when authors will try to paint Persephone as if she's only sweet and fragile with her little flowers. Girl was the mistress of the Furies and meted out her own punishments regularly. She was Queen of the Underworld and was as respected and feared as Hades himself.

I’m waiting for the twist where her curse is fake or misunderstood. But in the meantime, Lyra with her “no one can ever love me” just makes me think of Goob from Meet the Robinsons: “They all hated me.”

The only thing I’m taking away from this book is that Hades smells like “bitter dark chocolate”…because we’re reminded in almost every. Single. Chapter.

It's important to branch out and try new authors. At the same time, it's not required to spend money to try these new authors. Libraries, book swaps, free little libraries, Bookbub (has some free ebooks) are just a few options to sample a broader range of books without breaking your budget
