Not work related but I've written a blog for @flightfreeuk.bsky.social about my recent holiday (by train) to Spain!

Travel is a key research area in @cast-centre.bsky.social and I often think about how to have low-carbon travel conversations, so was really pleased to be asked to write this.
Flight-free travel is easy if you're used to it... but it's nice when a frequent-flying friend comes along too. Briony heads to northern Spain with a friend who would usually have got there by air. That's the power of leading by example!

Attended the Greening the Screen showcase in Cardiff yesterday.

Particularly enjoyed seeing a preview of Who Gives a F**k About Polar Bears? by Gavin Porter - a short film exploring climate stories from a working class perspective.

Thanks for sharing @brionylatter.bsky.social. We need to normalise this conversation and break the habit. We need to reframe how we do adventure, which for us, makes a lot of sense for both planet and simply having more fun!

Travel has a huge climate impact but driving isn't the only way to explore the outdoors.

I recently had a running holiday in Assynt, the remote north west of Scotland, traveling from Cardiff by train and bus.

Required good planning and researching local services (very grateful for 'Dial-a-bus'!)

24/ We must recognize that at present the #ClimateEmergency declarations of universities are mostly rhetorical.

I find AI concerning for several reasons, so was interested to read these two reports about (1) news integrity in AI assistants and (2) audience use/perceptions of them.

The reports are long but easy to read and have visuals! Also some climate change examples.

Largest study of its kind shows AI assistants misrepresent news content 45% of the time – regardless of language or territory

Happy to share our new research on UK climate politics 🚨

We found Members of Parliament (MPs) use the language of climate "pragmatism" to avoid rapid change. It risks becoming a new discourse of delay.
