Personal carbon footprints are useful — but they tell a very incomplete story about individual climate action.

Our new paper argues for going beyond consumption to recognise influence, roles, and the capacity to shape systems.

Pleased to read that 99% of the South Wales Metro is now electrified.

Really enjoying the new trains and using the new (*much* cheaper) pay as you go system e.g. £8.40 PAYG return to Abergavenny to go running in the mountains (rather than £19.30 standard ticket!)

Live thread from @steveclimate.bsky.social on the UK’s first National Emergency Briefing @nebriefing.bsky.social about the climate change and nature crisis. Politicians, media & more in attendance.

Pleased to have persuaded my MP
@abarroscurtis.bsky.social to send a member of his team to attend.
Hard hitting words from Chris Packham to politicians and leaders at the National Emergency Briefing on climate and nature:

"You MUST listen to the science. We didn't just elect you. We've given you our trust. You are about to hear from leading scientists. I beseach you to hear their truth"

Attended the Greening the Screen showcase in Cardiff yesterday.

Particularly enjoyed seeing a preview of Who Gives a F**k About Polar Bears? by Gavin Porter - a short film exploring climate stories from a working class perspective.

Travel has a huge climate impact but driving isn't the only way to explore the outdoors.

I recently had a running holiday in Assynt, the remote north west of Scotland, traveling from Cardiff by train and bus.

Required good planning and researching local services (very grateful for 'Dial-a-bus'!)

I find AI concerning for several reasons, so was interested to read these two reports about (1) news integrity in AI assistants and (2) audience use/perceptions of them.

The reports are long but easy to read and have visuals! Also some climate change examples.
