This clip will be forever burned into my brain. When @sanders.senate.gov told them they would be killing 51,000 people with their vote and they did it anyway. It was like watching him beg for mercy at a public execution.

Democrats reveal whistleblower details of Ghislaine Maxwell prison ‘luxuries’
In a letter to the president, House Democrats say Maxwell’s treatment as she prepares a clemency request makes the convicted sex offender look like a “guest at a Trump hotel.”

Voters want a Democratic Party that fights back against the forces that have rigged the system and made their lives more difficult.

A party that comforts the afflicted and afflicts the comfortable —not a party that buckles and capitulates.

When will party leadership learn this lesson?

Democratic establishment just opened the door for the young progressives in the party. Establishment just proved progressives point, they’re not fighters.

When a great democracy ceases to be progressive, it will soon cease to great - and a democracy (T. Roosevelt)

Teddy knew this to be true over a 100 years ago.

The Dems brand is now dead. They have just proven incapable of being a party for working Americans. We need a new Dem party.

I've cared for patients who used the ER when the pain got so bad they couldn't stand it, only to find out they had STAGE FOUR CANCER. Several left behind very young children. We should never go back to 54 M uninsured before the ACA took effect.
Thanks for nothing to the 8 D Senators who voted yes.

I am so furious right now.

AGs across the country fought to get SNAP benefits.

Federal workers suffered with weeks of no pay.

Millions of people showed up to protest Trump.

Democrats showed up in record numbers at the polls to say 'we've got your back!'

And you caved for literally nothing.

We’re not going to “fix the Democrats’ brand” by doing TikToks or launching pods. The brand is a direct reflection of our elected officials. If we want to purge our weak branding, we have to purge the weak Dems. I’m looking forward to a robust primary cycle and new Democrats who know how to fight.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Sanders: Let’s be clear… If this vote succeeds, over 20 million Americans are going to see at least a doubling in their premiums… if resolution is passed tonight, we are on a path way to throw 15 million Americans off of medicaid and the affordable care act, 15 million.

As long as it takes.

1. Republicans are being blamed for the shutdown by the public
2. This could sink Trump in future
2. We know how Trump works: cave now and they'll come back for more
3. Don't let them take our healthcare!!!!

My grandfather always said “you have to have money to make money”. So true, a friend in Brazil was just lamenting that because he didn’t have the cash to buy his vehicle outright, he will end up paying twice what it actually cost over the next few years.
Casual reminder that the myth of “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” is a cruel hoax designed to convince poor people from all walks of life that the injustices they face are a result of their own actions, rather than an oppressive system rigged against them.

Constant, conflicting and false information from the White House causes the public to see truth as relative and dismiss those who disagree as untruthful. It's a tactic with historical ties to 1930s Nazi Germany and modern extremist movements, according to a journalism scholar.
