Silksong is exactly as hard as I could have hoped for. Some of the run backs are literally evil, half of the regular enemies are nightmares, and it’s all perfect for me. Not for everyone, but absolutely for me. Bless you @teamcherry.bsky.social for making exactly the game you wanted to make.

Can we just throw an extra few hours into every day so I can build a game, make a little money, and get back into the games industry?

Currently having my soul withered by mundane work lol

I was interviewed for the NYT article about graphics, and I will say that @jasonschreier.bsky.social is 100% on point in this "response" article. The over-focus on graphics isn't the problem - it's a symptom of mis-management. Mis-management of priorities, of resources, of people, of talent.
Why do video games cost so much to make these days? A recent NYT article pinned bloated budgets on the graphical arms race, but that's only a small part of the equation. The real problem? Rampant mismanagement.

This week's column is a spicy one: www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...
Why So Many Video Games Cost So Much to Make
Graphical fidelity is only part of the reason that game budgets have swelled to hundreds of millions of dollars

It’s more about the mental will to actually work on something instead of just veg out and play games or stare into the abyss 😓

Hey how do I ‘start’ a personal game project when I’m already working 45-50 retail hours a week, is this even possible or should I just stay focused on not dying

Someone has gotta bite on these resumes I’m sending out 😮‍💨

I’ve tested multiple triple A projects! I designed a game with some industry vets and it’s real! Let me be a QA at least, I promise I’m cool. 💀💀

Time to start wiggling my way back into the games industry. Couple years of QA, couple years of design, surely I’ll find work… right? RIGHT??
