Solar’s price drop is astonishing: panels are now 98% cheaper than when I first analyzed them in 2004.

Today, building a fence with solar can be cheaper than using wood.

⚡ Negative power prices are breaking records in Denmark — 661 hours already in 2025- Last Sunday, consumers in both East and West Denmark experienced 11 hours in a row of negative electricity prices. It’s the third year in a row with new records. This is a milestone — but also a dilemma:

By September 2025, the EU must submit its new NDC (Nationally Determined Contribution) for 2035.

The dilemmas are clear:
- Can the EU credibly deliver its 2030 –55% target when several Member States are already struggling? I do think we can come on track with cost-effective known technologies.

The new "Norgespris" of 40 øre/kwh is so low, it is hard to understand. This will not bring competitiveness to Europe. This will only reduce incentives for market reform in Germany and not give the hourly price signal needed to handle fluctuations and natural constraints.

🚢⚡ A new era of green high-speed transport is on its way across the Kattegat!

Molslinjen has ordered two – likely soon three – all-electric mega-catamarans from Incat Tasmania. These vessels, set to enter operation 2027/2028, represent the world’s largest electrification project at sea to date.

Renewable energy + electrification are cheaper than fossil fuels. Nonetheless @exxonmobil continues to push for less focus on Climate policies. When renewables + electrification is cheaper Exxons is also pushing for reliance on expensive energy supply + lower security of supply!
ExxonMobil’s latest moves look like delay dressed up as progress.

Still prioritising oil/gas capex, leaning on CCS/offsets, claiming “demand” is fixed, and avoiding accountability.

Nothing new here as the company has been accused of burying climate science and funding misinformation.

🔄 Fra madaffald til lunkent vand?
@biogasdanmark.bsky.social argumenterer i @altingetdk.bsky.social for, at vi fortsat skal satse på gasfyr:
1️⃣ sorter madaffald i København
2️⃣ transport til biogasanlæg
3️⃣ Gassen gennem naturgasnettet
4️⃣ Bruges i gaskedel i parcelhus i Dragør til lunkent vand.

When I saw how many biomass-based CHP plants were pre-qualified in the current Danish CCS tendering process before the holiday, I became deeply worried. Why? Because we already use far too much biomass in power plants. Adding CCS further reduces flexibility at a time when we need the opposite.

The Danish government has announced a major cut in the electricity tax – from 72.7 øre/kWh to the EU minimum of just 0.8 øre/kWh in 2026 and 2027.

For households, this means significant savings:

A typical family: ~4,000 DKK less per year

Pensioner couples: ~2,700 DKK less per year

Denmark hasn't burned coal for months. But shutting the last coal plant by 2028 could be risky. Without wind or sun, what backs us up? Should be gas/biogas-plants
Green backups must be in place or price spikes/blackouts may follow:

🌞 Solar power helped Europe pass the heatwave “stress test” 🔌

As temperatures rose in Europe at the start of July, so did electricity demand, driven by the growing need for air conditioning. In Spain alone, demand rose by 14% during the heatwave, pushing power prices >€470/MWh in some countries.

The Strait of Hormuz and Danish use of biomass

Denmark’s reliance on 200 PJ of biomass - nearly 30% of national energy use -is not a model to follow. It should be 30–40% lower. If the Strait of Hormuz were to close, oil and gas prices could spike dramatically.
